The closest track would probably be Union Grove/Great Lakes Dragway. It's a really nice track. As for cruises, head to Milwaukee, there's supposedly some badass street action down there.

Milwaukee... if you don't mind getting pulled over, there's some action. You can cruise in Milwaukee, but street racing gets busted every single night over on 14th and St Paul. So, be careful... but definitely make a trip to Union Grove- Great Lakes Dragaway... definitely has the sweetest rides ever.

There are other places in Milwaukee where people race, you just have to be at the right one at the right time. Usualy around midnight theres some people back by pobloki, not sure what time but on bradley theres quite a bit, back on carmen but thats not real big anymore... theres plenty of racing, you just have to talk to people and find out where its going down. And I agree dont bother going to St. Paul since the fast and the furious movie that place is allways getting busted. As soon as I get my car back together again. I will be out there.

yeah unfortunatly this is true. there are mostly imports, but there are some american v8s there. last week there was a v8 mustang vs. a M3...i dont know who won cause right after that the cops came and we all scattered. there is a little bit of everything down there. there were 3 other 3rd gens, a SVT lightning, a motorcycle crew(they are some crazy guys!) a bunch of real imports, im talkin bout blow off valves from hell, crazy turbos and body kits. then there are the typ[ical pos rice burners, then the people that want to watch and just drive there moms daily drivers.

how serious is it? I mean are they putting some $$ down or just racing for fun?? and the biggest thing I would be worried about is, alot of them import guys tend to get really pissed when they get beat and either they try and mess with your car or start a fight, is it like that or is it pretty mellow? Im just asking cause Ive been in a few bad situations like that before and its not fun. Anyways it sounds like it could be kinda cool to get like a bunch of 3rd gens to run together ???

it is so mellow, or atleast when i was there. there are ALOT of people there, i mean think of when they blocked the street off in Fast and the Furious....same thing basicly. i didnt race other people, even though they did ask to race me. i only raced my nitrous happy rice burner friend. (and lost ) its pretty kewl down there. i say that we get a bunch of third gens to go down, but not till i get my cat back put on,, so probly not for another 2-3 weeks. you can race for money if you want, but all i saw was racing for fun.

Thats cool, thats what I like. I race for fun, just for the rush. And I hate racing with people that get attitude when they lose. Anyways yeah, I gotta get my engine back in then Im in, just let me know when and where to meet.

Ill let you know when I finaly get to the track, Its been down for about 2 years now and finaly it should be done (for now anyways) Im hoping to pull low 13s or better but that could be way off. I see alot of other peoples times that they put up and they are like 13-14s but when my car was completely stock I used to keep up with and even beet cars that were putting down 13s I raced a brand new (2000, it was 2 years ago) Trans Am WS6 and I had him by a car length at 60mph 3 lights in a row. the guy was so pissed that his brand new $30000 car was getting shown up by my Iroc. So either my car is suprisingly fast or he was just fool and didnt know how to drive.

Hey guys, I'm from the Rockford area, and as soon as my car is done am looking at heading up to Great lakes dragway for the real street drags they run up there, I hear its a hell of a time. I'd be intrested to in heading up to chicago someday and eating some rice. I'm in the process of doing an engine swap in in my 87 GTA. Im taking out the 350 TPI and swapping to a carb's 350 (all types of goodies in it ) a 700r4 (vetter servo's and a transgo shift kit) 71/2 inch 10 bolt with 3.73's, true dual 3inch w/ flowmasters, NOS 150 shot. Alll types of goodies
But yeah, we need to have a thirdgen day at GLD or something

when you guys think of a good time to go my email is matt84ta@hotmail.com so let me know. The China town thing sound kind of sketchy but just hanging out and going to cruises or great lake drag way sounds good to me. My car is basically stock so not that fast but I still love to drive it.

haha, ive had my GTA for four years now, and just now im getting around to making it fast. I had flowmasters on it before, and a modified MAF and K&N, but beyond that nothing much. Just decided this year that it was time for a little more power Unfortunately...*** its expensive. What started out as a $2200 project has turned into over $4000 and still a couple thousand more in the works...i think my girlfriend is going to kill me!!!

lol, I know exacly what you mean. My engine bay is worth more than I paid for the car itself I was just looking at some stuff and I doubt that I can afford to make you a fair offer on that TPI setup right now, but if you still have it in a month or so let me know.

at least it will be fast. i bought mine with the intention of making it fast. already dropped a 350 in it, just got my cat back, and i still am only running 15.7 on the gtech. no matter what i did mod wise,, it hasnt changed my ET at all, and i finaly relized what it was (not enough fuel at high rpm's) after bout 3500 rpm's, it just falls on its face and doesnt pull for $hit! i should be running a 14.9 AT LEAST, and thats still kinda slow. after i get the carb fixxed and i get gears,,, im hoping 14.0's i plan on doing everything all motor, screw NOS (i gotta say that to convince myself that i dont wnat it. my rents wont let me put it on there as long as they are paying for the insurance and im living at home..being 18 is great,,,but has its drawbacks )

ohh matt,, yeah dude you post didnt show up when i wrote that.................

haha, yeah im pretty much just spraying mine because i always wanted to have a big red button though ill probably just end up running a microswitch. My next goal is to supercharge it (always wanted one of those too) BUT, that comes with time, and money. If all my dream come true, by the time im done this summer, she'll hit a highhhhhhh 10, but im more realisticly looking at a low 11. But that all deends if i manage to hook. I think ill just dip my tires in superglue and see what happens

oh yeah, and about the motor man, dont worry about it, i dont really think its probably going anywhere real quick. I was probably thinking about $500 for the whole TPI setup. Would that sound reasonable to you? I dont know what the setup's go for, but someone told me there usually pretty steep. i figured $500 sounded reasonable for the whole intake, injectors, ecm, all that jazz...
