Anyone planning a head/cam swap recently???

My two year old car upgrade project is taking way too long now I just got my new AFR heads in and I'm pretty much all ready to get the engine back together (finally). I was wondering if anyone in the Chicagoland/Suburb area is planning on doing a head/cam swap i the future so I could possibly observe the process and learn how to do it right the first time. My engine is all torn down now...heads/accessories all off. I just gotta get the damper, crank pulley/timg chain off to throw the new cam in....but I've never done any "real" engine work before so I'd like to see it all done right and learn before I attempt it.
Please feel free to email me at drabicki2@attbi.com

Thanks,
- Joel

you missed it....about 3 weeks ago, andy(metallicamaro) and I did one in my garage. I was showing him what was going on.....maybe later I'll do another one....who knows.

We're all on the chicago board if you ever wanted to check it out, don't forget to introduce yourself over there.

That's the story of my life....just missing out on something. Well, so far today's benn good...I've got the crank pulley and harmonic balancer off...the timing cover is loose and ready for removal. Cleaned some of the carbon off the pistons as well. I'm gonna check out what kinda job the motor mounts are with half the engine off. I've got some nice Moroso ones that should work well.

Anyone else planning on doing a cam in the next month or so?

PS - Can you pass along the link to the Chicago board please?

Thanks,
- Joel

just go down to the regional boards section this board is listed under and click on NW indiana and chicago.

heads and cams are easy...don't be scared about it...it's alot easier than everyone makes it sound. I might be doing one, but my plans change day to day...
