wiring harness ???'s
anyone know the best way to pull an old wiring harness and put a new one in, do you have to take the fender and bumper cover off? Should i put the new one in before i put in the engine? any other tips are greatly appreciated as this wiring harness is causing me the most anxiety? I think i will be starting on it this saturday. also will a v6 radiator work with a v8, im thinking no but im not sure.

i assume your talking about the engine wiring harness. An engine wiring harness is easy as hell, it looks ALOT more complicated than it is. get under the passenger side dash and take off the bottom cover so that you can disconnect the ecm (computer) end of the wiring harness, then follow the wiring harness down behind the passenger side kickpanel, remove that panel and you will see a black square bulkhead that the harness passes through, either on the top or the bottom (i forget which) is a giant "C" style clip that wraps around all but one side of the bulkhead, the clip is black and kinda hard to make out, but you'll find it, pull that clip off and the bulkhead can be pushed out, you can then pop the hood and pull the ecm end of the harness out of the passender side fender, just behind or between the wheel well and the heater box.
Now for removing the harness from the engine, i recommend you take pictures and lots of them, but it's not necessary. Pull all the connectors off all the sensors and do whatever it takes to remember what connector goes to what sensor and where that sensor is on the engine and how the harness gets to it (thats why the pictures are pretty useful). You won't have to worry about the harness that comes out of the driver's side firewall, if you follow that harness, you'll see that it only goes to the headlights/signals/etc.
Installation is a breeze, lay the ecm end by the fender and spread everything out, most things should fall into space, you can figure out where alot of things go just based on how long that section of the harness is and what is in the area that it will reach and connect to...if you run into any problems, feel free to post back, i've played with carb, tbi, tpi, and lt1 harnesses alot lately and if i can't help the guys in the electronics section undoubtedly can.

thanks for the tips ontogenesis,
i kind of worked my way thru it and figured it out. now my problrm is something else. the 89 v8 and 92 v6 harness are completely different , different ecms, egr, injector wiring, and air systems. so im using the 92 ecm and harness to turn the 89 into a 92 350 tpi. now i have to go thru the ecm pins and wire the old 89 connectors to the right 92 wires. i promise you the next car will be old school carb.
my engine looks exactly like yours in that pic except my heads are orange also. im getting excited, i can see it coming together, just got my headers. its always at this middle to end stage of the project that i start to speed up and **** something up. peace.

sounds bad *** man, if your engine is built like mine (10.5:1), you should be running low 13's to high 12's, (high 10's w/150 shot)
