I'm going to be going to Kettering University in the summer, so I'll be living in Flint. Whose out there, are there any good shops, tracks? I'm really looking forward to the Detroit auto show next year though.

If anybody does live in Flint, or is frequently in Flint, how does your thirdgen behave on those roads? It seems like a thirdgen would absolutely hate all those hills and potholes and stop lights? I was out there last weekend, and man so many stoplights.

im about an hour or so from flint.only track i can think of is milan. i havent been yet though... dont want to embarass anyone in the uber fast escort

you will soon notice just how good your suspension is. my friends 88 camaro use to bang on every little bump. changed the rear shocks and it had a dramatic improvement on the ride quality alone. a 2 hour long road trip and you could feel it in your back. some roads arent too bad... some are hellacious. just gotta be careful.

I live in flint, well actually flushing. Kettering is an awesome school, i almost went there but i wanted out of flint (went to western michigan for engineering). my high school uses their rec center (the valley school). as for tracks, milan or lapeer are closest, i've been to both and milan is nicer.

BTW: Flint roads really suck and don't leave your car anywhere alone if you like your stereo or rims.

I go to Kettering, I'm B-section, though. I absolutely hate driving my car there because a) the roads are terrible and b)i'm afraid of it getting broken into/stolen. Kettering students that live in the houses surrounding the school are PRIME targets for thieves. Leave nothing valuable in your car! Get renters insurance, especially when you start living off campus. There have been instances of entire student houses being cleaned out over long weekends like Thanksgiving when the thieves know no one is home. Last term the perps drank all the guys' beer before taking their stuff lol. Other than that it's not so bad (lol), there aren't a whole lot of girls, though. There's a car club that does drag racing/autox/dyno days/speed shop tours, it's a good time. There's a new message board just for KU, www.trueku.com, I go by the same name there.

Have you heard of the flint cruise? It's street racing in an industrial parkway. It's a fun place to hang but I never race there because the cops come around often and it's dangerous anyway. On a good night there will be continuous racing til like 4am.
