Good Deal Or Not?
Good Deal Or Not?
Hello,
I am new to this forum and I wanted to know if the following is a good deal or not:
- 1988 IROC-Z
- 121,000 miles
- Body is good condition, very little rust
- T-Tops, not leaking
- Interior is fair, one seat is ripped
- No radio
- Needs starter rebuilt
- 350 engine
-$2200.00
So, is this a good deal? Thanks for your time.

Well, everyone will have a different opinion on something like this, but If you really wanna know what I think...
If I'm paying 2200 for a 1988 (17 yr old) 3rd Gen, it needs to be in pretty darn good shape. Better have at least something good going for it. Was it always a 350 car, or has that been replaced?
I paid 500 bucks for mine with no body rust whatsoever - well maybe a little pitting, but nothing all the way through.....now the floorpans were a different story! And the engine didn't run. And the tranny didn't work...But everything was there.
All depends on what "very little rust" means too. I'd expect the starter to be replaced before I bought it myself....
Posting a pic would help too! On the surface, I'd say talk him down and if he won't go, keep looking. Good deals can still be had for these cars.
EDIT: And welcome to the board!!
