Just testing waters, how much is it worth?
Up for sale is a 1992 rs 25th aniversary Camaro. The car has 190,000 miles, but dont let that fool you because it holds great oil pressure and doesn't smoke or burn anything. i know a lot but not to worry its strong as the first day it came off the lot. Only 2500 of these cars were ever made with this paint color and the paint color was only avaliable is 1992. It has a hyperchip,k/n filter, flowmaster exhuas. The car has an amazing sound and look to it like no other 3rd gen car. Car has crome dipped wheels that at stock 16's. Car has cloth interoir with 2 tears in the drivers seat. A/c does not work but is a easy fix to do. The car gets about 20 mpg if you not on the throttle. The engine is a stock 305tbi. nothing special but very reliable. Oil and filter has been changed every 3,000 miles since ive owned the car. Title is clean and clear and the car as never been in a accident. The car has about 1 month old paint job. It has a i-roc or z28 louver hood. This is a t-tops car and the rubber seals are like brand new looking, they are the nicest ive ever seen for a 1992 camaro. T-tops DO NOT LEEK. Car drives straight. The transmisson was rebuilt about 10,000 on it right now and shifts like butter. The pictures just dont justify this car...if looks much better in person. I have a lot of pictures of the car so just e-mail me upon request.

Depending on where you are, I would say roughly around $3000, maybe more. Mostly because of the type of car (RS), the 305 TBI will increase the price of the RS since it's a V8, so thats a plus, the dash is cracked and the seat bolster is torn (as most of ours are that have stock seats), so that hurts the price. The pros are that it has a 5-speed, and the t-tops may help the price as well. Just my

Not a friend but not an enemy either. Gorgeous looking car. I was thinkin ballpark $3200 firm. It's got like he said basic wear and tear like all thirdgen's. Motor from what you say is awesome, most of these cars like to burn oil after 130,000. It's been maintained, never in an accident, 5spd, 305, desireable color and Ttops, and of course the little modifications that make it stand out. $3200 to possibly $3500 would be alright IMO. Just do me a favor, don't sell it to somebody who won't appreciate it, It's a gorgeous car and should be cared for. The price seems reasonable to me, I'd definitely pay that for that shape.

If Only I were a Rich Man
If only college weren't looming around the corner I would be all over it, trust me. Damn people taking all the money so I cant enjoy anything I'd like to.
Kinda feel bad saying make sure it gets a good home but I've seen too many of nice cars get completely trashed just because of some idiot driving it. Just out of curiosity why do you need to sell it? New Project? No Room? No Cash? Thread Starter

I paid $2,400 for mine in pretty dire shape. 1990 RS 305 TBI with WC T-5 and 129,000 miles. It burned oil a little bit on startup and interior was overrun by a rat. Basically did a complete tear down on the car found it had been in an accident and everything else. Pretty sure I got ripped for the condition but on the outside it looks pretty good after a lil TLC and maybe $150 in parts to get rid of little problems here and there. So I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.
I feel you Knoxie, my parents have a truck that I've been borrowin cause my mom can't drive for a while. It's got a 5.3 compared to 5.0 and the truck seems faster than my camaro. If some punk in a mustang kept givin me crap I'd show him up pretty quick and make him rethink the oldness of these thirdgen's. Good luck selling it but I doubt you'll need the luck.

I know the milage is high but thats all it needs is a new motor. tranny is good, interoir is good, extorior is amazing. If someone has a motor and isn't done finishing it and is looking for a race car 12 sec or higher then its great. I doesn't burn oil, no smoke, starts right up just as good as it would if the odometer said 40,000 miles. But thanks for the advice guys, i really appriciate it. Keep it coming!

looks nice in pictures but that doesn't mean much. a car is only worth what someone will pay. the fact it runs should put it in the 1k-4k range depending on how clean it is and what all in fact is wrong with it. regardless though a 305 tbi is a dog... the fact it's manual is a definate plus for your sales for the right buyer and definately will improve the gas mileage of it.
Be realistic. When you are selling a car you have to appeal to the masses unless you can wait for the one person willing to buy your particular car.
Imagine a girl likes your car and brings daddy with. First thing is it has near 200k on the clock and two,she doesnt know how to drive a stick. Daddy cant teach her cause he dont know how to drive one either.
Its a nice looking car,2k would be good. You can ask whtever you want, you just have to see if someone bites.

I would pay around 1500 for your car. If the interior had nice seats(not torn and no metal showing) a perfect dashpad(you can see the cracks from here) and just a basic rering and rebearing job for the engine you could get 3500. Just painting a tired old turd doesn't make it new again.
I buy a car with the milage in mind and what has been done with proof mechanically to the drivetrain. 190000 is knockin on rebuilds door for an L03. If a person pays 3500 for a car and has to get the engine rebuilt 2 months later is the car really worth 3500. After rebuilding the motor and putting it back in for around 1500 brings it up to 5000. You now have a 5000 92 RS with an L03. I buy 100000 mile tuned port cars all day long for under a grand. Yes they dont run but with some analitical thinking the problems are usually fixed for cheap.

Come to think of it the most expensive TPI car i've ever bought was $900 ran and drove and had only 89000 miles. It is also one of those "RARE" colors 85 IROC silver with black interior.

I always feel you can get more for a rust free car in the rust belt area. Just my opinion. I'd say that car is worth more up here than down south. I'd think you could get about 2500 for it if you sit on it. You may find someone who just wants to buy it for the chassis and ditch the 305 for a larger motor. *shrug*

I think if you get 2 grand, run screaming like a little girl. Sure, it may only need a motor in a few miles, but keep in mind everything else has 200k on it also. All those items that wear will make the car feel less and less like it should.
Nice looker though, the correct hood would suit it better though.

Ok, if needs a motor rebuild then we are looking at $500-1,000.
Mention "190K and needs a motor" and those are the offers you will get.
Ask yourself this: would you pay $3,500 for it?

since you obviously shoot this guy down with his offer of $1750 which i think he's crazy to offer, you want wayyyyyyy to much for this car especially with enough mileage to have killed 2 vehicles. Put it this way a super clean roller with no motor would go for $750-1k in these parts. I don't consider a LO3 with 200k on it worth anymore than $1500 total to be sold. Just trying to warn the guy what he's getting into if you think you're going to get 4k for it or something crazy.

I would pay between 2000 and 2500. As stated earlier it is a high mileage LO3 but hell it still works fine without and problems. Ive seen those motors go well over 200,000 miles without a rebuild. Its a really clean car, despite the couple things with the interior. I wouldn't low ball that car at all. Look at it this way. How many LO3 cars do you see in this good of condition ? Believe it or not but cars like his are getting more and more rare everyday. My Iroc is the only one i see on the road at all in this area of the state. I would deffinently snag it up if i had space.
By the way Kevin, that list of cars just keeps getting bigger and bigger LOL. Let me know if you dont want any of them, i might be looknig for another resto project.

A friend of mine owns a car lot around here and he sold a 91 RS with a 305 auto that had some rust cracks on the bumpers needed paint and had some rips in the interior with 140,000 on it and it sold for 2,100

Knoxie90.... Nice lookin car man! The basics look great. Like all cars that age they will have a little wear and tear on them, but still a nice rust free car, something you dont see very often. Like Pearl_iroc said, look at the rust buckets they're drivin lol.... Why don't ya build up a good L98 or a 383 and go whoop some of those 5.0 mustangs butts for em?

Hey Tom, don't let these guys hustle you around.
I know the previous owner of this car, his name is Dave. He took INCREDIBLE care of it, as he does with all of his cars. Dave wouldn't sell a car to someone if he thought it was going to break down on them. This car is in the condition of the same car with 1/3 of the mileage. If he says it holds oil pressue, I would believe him, because I know what care was taken for it with the previous owner. I'd pay between $2,000-$2,400 if I were looking for something like that.
I'm actually possibly picking up Dave's IROC-Z on friday (Dave is the previous owner of this RS). It's another car that shows what kind of care he takes of his vehicles.

I would say 2-3,000 for it
The body looks to be in incredible shape which is the important part
yeah the drivetrain is old, but the body is GREAT.
Anyone who wants a nice car to redo the drivetrain in will be VERY interested in your car becuase its so clean and they will pay a premium for that...

i'd go 2500 for it providing it drove and rode as well as it looked btw i could have that in cash if you were interested in no time since i currently just lost my maro. Let me know anything you know about it yourself in a pm if interested. It seems to be what i just had just less modified and 5 spd not auto. i'd expect 2.73 drum open diff t-5 non wc stock suspension probablym ostly rebuilt?

I'd say if someone gave you 2k then take it and run.
