Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
I sent out a couple of emails to:
rock falls raceway
lacrosse fairgraounds motor speedway
and
(cant remember the name!?)
I told them who we are and that we want a track for the day and be able to tailgate.
I'll let you guys know what each place says.
i will email some other car clubs too and ask them were they go, anyone opposed to meeting with another club? mustangs etc.?
could everyone interested please email me at mattsemail@charter.net and let me know for sure you will come and how much you would be able to contribute to the rental fees. I would be willing to go 50 bucks but no more than that.
I would also be down to just meet at a walmart somewhere and just take a cruise, anyone else?

If we open it to others I say it should only be GM and preferably just F-Bodies.
Anyone need a firebird dash pad? I have one with absolutely no cracks on it that I want to sell.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
Since not many people check in with this thread very often I think we'll have to open it to all F-Bodies otherwise renting a track for a day will never happen. There just simply aren't enough third gens on the forum that are in this area.
First off we need to pick a date. Without a date or maybe two to choose from, nothing else can happen. Once that is settled, we need to start contacting people to get the word out.
The local club, Brew City Muscle, would be a great place to start. Someone can probably just posting an ad on their forum inviting all F-bodies and asking for opinions/suggestions. NastyZ28.com is another site to check into for all the older F-Bodies and of course LS1tech for the newer vehicles. My dad knows a guy with a 69 SS so hopefully he can spread the word in the car club he belongs to. We can ask TGO vendors to post a banner (someone here will make) advertiseing this to everyone visiting their site. This alone will probably generate a lot of interest. Maybe even ebmiller (Ed the brake guru) would be willing to post something on his site. If you go to any swapmeets, make up a sheet explaining what we're trying to do here with dates and contact info so we can start gathering names and making a list.
With that said, is anyone here good with photoshop and willing to whip together a eye-catching yet simple advertisement for these possible people to post on their sites?
Without reaching out to all these people and groups, we will probably only end up with ~20 people wanting to rent a track which will be absolutely outrageous price wise.
--------------------------
Mr_Yuk:
Can you e-mail GLD back and try and get a range of people compared to price of event or something like that? It would be nice to know if ~100 people means everyone pays $50 or ~500 people and everyone pays $20 or something like that. With this info we can figure out if this would be worth trying. Not to sound like I'm giving up on the idea, but if we end up needing even 500 people I think it will be pretty tough to coordinate.
Thoughts/comments?

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
I’m still waiting for GLD myself.
but rumor has it it's around 1500. I don't know if that includes the EMT or not. but yall know how rumors are.
I’m thinking at worse we need to find 40 cars @ 50$ a head, anything beyond that is money back in our pocket if it isn’t already.
we need to pick a date , or at least a month . if possible someone should open a bank account just for this, then fee's could be paid via pay-pal. I think it would be easer to find 50$ one at a time instead of tiring to get 40 people to pay 50 at once.
if we can get a date nailed down soon, I don't think there will be much problem finding 40 cars to have the full run of a drag track for 50$

and for those that don't know me, if this happens you should know dang well i'm going to set-up up some kind of tourny.

I'm up for something. I'm not 100% but I think Road America rents out their track. I got to spin some laps there last year and it was AMAZING! Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
I am afraid everyone I have spoke with already has a full schedule for this season. It looks like this is something we would have to plan a little sooner. Anyone have any luck anywhere else?
Most places also require a radiator/cooloant catch can on a vehicle for it to be able to run on the track. Cant drink before you drive either. Theres a couple more regulations too like seatbelts and helmets.
We could also just meet somewhere on an open track day and take the place over.
Ideas.... Anyone...

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
I'm always up for an autocross or HPDE. The autocross with be hardest on tires and the power steering pump (unless you drive like a granny), and the HPDE will be hardest on your tires, brakes (big time), and cooling system.
My plans for my car have changed yet again so I might actually have a 350 in my car for the new season. Does anyone want to buy a a 9bolt 3.27 iron caliper disk rear, or a 700r4, both with only 16k miles on them?
Before I buy tires, what do you guys think, 295 on all four corners, or 305 on all four corners? The 305 will limit turning radius a little more but also look a little more badass. haha

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
to clear up what I said earlier , 1500 was an off season price, now I’m hearing close to 4000 for an in season rental date. NOT FEASALBE...
of coarse I have yet to hear a number from GLD them self’s but with a number like that the math just don't jive. I think it will be way cheaper to just all go to a track on a cretin day.
I tried.

This track has street drags open to public all summer but it is bordering Minnesota. A good drive for some. It is only 2 minutes from I-90 and you can camp on the grounds except during the fair July 13-18
What are everyones thoughts on meeting here? I think it is just an 1/8 mi track

We should at the very least get a group together to drive down to Third Gen Fest together. I plan on leaving Friday afternoon at 5-6pm. Last year the drive took me about 2 hours.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES
Just bought another 3rd gen (first was an 89 formula). It's an '84 Z28 that lost it's efi somewhere and ended up with a carbed 350. Carb is crap, cars a mess but at least it's not rusted out. It looks like I way south of most of you guys, watertown, about halfway between madison and milwaukee.

If there is a swap meet in WI or northern IL there is a very good chance my dad and I will be there. My dads been going to the Jefferson swap meet for over two decades so I can't think of any reason we would miss either of them this year.
I'll make a new thread about it on this board.

Hey, Im going to the Spring Jefferson. If I could drive my car there I would, but I dont have insurance. I have been going for the past 2 and a half years and have enjoyed every second of it. Last years Spring I got rained out on, but hopefully this year it will be sunny. Wish I could meet some Third Gen Guys.

Are you the same Nick that was texting me about buying the airfoil I have on Craigslist? If so, Wednesday night would be best for me since I'll be out celebrating my B-day today! Yup, the big 1 9 lol

For what you have done, you can show up in a mustang and I would be more then happy to see you at a meet.
Are you the same Nick that was texting me about buying the airfoil I have on Craigslist? If so, Wednesday night would be best for me since I'll be out celebrating my B-day today! Yup, the big 1 9 lol

I live in Wausau as well! We should all get together one of these days. We have 3 third gens in our group and would love to go to some of these events. Send me a message and let me know what you think.

Does anyone think Slinger Speedway would rent out their track?
