Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Hello I am from LaCrosse I purchased(rescued from Iowa) a 1991 Camero Rs for my son and we are slowly fixing her up. Has been fun driving it. Getting a new clutch and headers installed next week. What do you all think about having raised white letter BF goodrich Radial TA for tires?
I had those on my '81 Cutlass Supreme, they're good tires and they lasted a long time even with a 455

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Haven't logged on in a few months. My car is ready to go for the year as soon as I get my tire situation figured out. I've been putting it off for too long and need to make up my mind. I'll probably never make it to Georgies because I work nights on the weekends so if you guys see me it will probably only be as we drive past each other. If something is ever setup I'll probably only know if someone sends me a pm since I rarely log on now.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Looks like there won't be anything going on at Georgie Porgies anyway this year. Last year these was a calendar on thier website on car show dates for both locations...Oak Creek and Racine...now it's not there. And it looks like there's some kind of construction going on at the Racine location, so the parking lot is nearly all blocked off anyway.

Hey Robby K,

Where in GB are you. I'm out in Bellevue near the VFW. Will you be doing the NWTC show? Maybe we can meet up there. Looking forward to a good summer of crusing now that the snow is finally gone.

I finally got a third gen two days ago. It's a 91 camaro rs that teal with silver racing stripes, t tops, and 305 tbi with 5 speed. It also has an edlebrock intake and flowmaster exhaust. Its a really fun car and in amazingly good shape.

Welcome to the forum.. And the world of third gen ownership. You are not too far away from the milwaukee area. Plan on hitting any of the shows around here this season? By the way, did you pick the car up local?

I'll be at Jefferson on Sunday. I probably won't at Third Gen Fest this year either. If I do go it would only be for one day.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Hey, I'm Chuck from Madison. I drive an 83 lg4 Trans Am with a Monster Motorsports 700r4, B&M shifter, and cooler. Its sits on lowered dropzone springs and kyb shocks and struts and cragar rims w/goodyear NASCAR Eagles. I just put on a Holley remanufactured cc Quadrajet and new high power alternator. I've painted the car and completely re-done the interior (still in progress). Also i've installed a clarion Auto PC system which has SAT NAV and is completely voice activated and is pushed by a 500 watt amp, two 10's in the back as well as speakers new speakers in the stock locations.
Just thought I'd see if there are any other people in the Madison area who are into 3rd gens. This one is my second. I love all f-bodys but this one was my favorite since I was a kid back in the 80's.

Was it Green? I bought a pass. fender from the same guy for $30. I also got a Trans Am hood for $50. I did not think that there was alot of third gen parts available.

By the way I am from Belleville. I own a 1989 Trans Am and 1991 Trans Am Gta (project).

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Thanks for pics! I didn't see any of the show because I wanted to get all the swap meet done first. I ended up getting some parking brake cables and a pair of 285 tires for the front of the Camaro. I also got some exhaust bends so I can continue on my motorcycle. My dad got contact info for a guy with an old 50's hemi so hopefully that will pan out and he can use it in his truck. We were also looking for an old supercharger but didnt find anything. Overall it was another successful trip to Jefferson.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Sending a thanks to the guy with the 91 in Oak Creek that works at the Auto Zone for stoppin over while I was elbow deep in removing the cooling system from my 92 Camaro. I forgot to get your name, but wanted to say thanks for stoppin by to lend a hand if I needed it. Everything went rather well and I was back up and running after the water pump and thermostat. I do wish that you had the radiator in stock, as it was out I would have put a new one in, being that far into it and all. Anyway thanks again.

My name is Tracy. I dont drive the 89 very much and the 91 I just picked up. It was totaled but I am going to fix it.

Firebug

It was the same guy. I told him that he wanted to much money for those parts. I was hoping that he had the lower ground effects and he did but they were in pieces.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

This afternoon I took the car out on the street for the first time in a long time. It was great for a while. Then I realized my heater core was leaking fluid onto the floorboard and my brakes were no longer working. Had to drive home using the parking brake to stop. Good thing I waited to drive it until I had that working. haha

I have one week to fix everything or I'll miss another race. Time to hustle so I can hopefully do another shakedown before I push the car too much.

Hey all, just took possession of my first project, a red '84 Z/28 over the long weekend. I'm looking forward to getting the car back in shape through the summer, and then into the performance mods.

Oh, and the car is in Oconomowoc/Ashippun - I'll be on the lookout for other third gen'ers.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

I've been driving the car for the last couple days. Having issues with the fans though. They don't seem to want to come on. I need to get my rear swaybar installed asap. Feels like the back of the car is just floating over the axle in a turn. Unfortunately my endlinks aren't "normal" and I've got to order the parts and put them together.

I'll be cruising HWY100 Friday and probably Saturday as well. I'll be the red IROC with Z06 wheels that you'll hear coming a mile away.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

I'll be at Miller Park on June 18 and 19 for some autocross action if anyone wants to stop by. The 18th is just a test and tune but assuming my car doesn't break I'll be there again on the 19th. Actually racing won't start until 9:30am if you just want to watch but if you would like to race plan to be there no later then 8am. I'll be the red IROC with Corbeau seats and Z06 wheels. Come say hi if you stop by.

Actually racing won't start until 9:30am if you just want to watch but if you would like to race plan to be there no later then 8am. I'll be the red IROC with Corbeau seats and Z06 wheels. Come say hi if you stop by.

Cars will start going around the courses at ~9:30am and I think it will go until 4pm. Not sure exactly on the end time since I've never participated in a test and tune event before. Sunday will be 9:30 to at least 4:30 though.

If anyone shows up at Miller Park on Saturday after 9:30am the entrance will be blocked. You can still come in with your car to watch. Just move the barricade to the side, drive in, and put the barricade back. Then go to the bus at the center of the lot to sign a liability waiver and you are then free to roam the pits and staging lanes.

If you come on Sunday, there will be someone at the gate to have you sign the liability waver. Sign it there and then you are free to roam.

If anyone has any last minute questions about anything send me a pm. If you just post here I probably won't get it until it's too late since I'll be in the garage thrashing on the car all day before I head to work.

Sure thing. I usually drive a dark blue GMC Sonoma but lately I've been carpooling with my sister to summer classes in her Toyota Paseo.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

The car won't idle in anything but P or N. Anything below 1k and it will stumble and then die. Had to drive it home by neutral dropping it to change gears. Races coming up so checking and rechecking a bunch.

As a side note I got one of the stock fiberglass hoods super cheap so I've been thinking about installing that to drop a few pounds instead of making the custom steel hood I've been drawing.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Is the service light lighting up? Check the throttle position switch, and for vacuum leaks. Im not all that familiar with TPI engines to be honest but there is a temp sensor in the intake that may be a factor as well. Get a haynes manual and search the site. Good luck
