2008 fbody road course day at waterford hills
hello, i am currently trying to put together a drivers ed day at the track, at the waterford hills road course race track, in waterford hills michigan. currently i have a few drivers from the street lethal performance club of mainly fourth gen cars. we are looking to get approx 40 drivers out to the track for a high performance drivers ed day.
for those who have never been to a road course, this day is the perfect opportunity to get hands on experience of driving your own car in a controlled road course environment. depending on handling and horsepower you will get your car up to 105mph on the backstretch. i know that really isnt that fast, but at the end of the stright is a 90 degree right hander, that you will need to make or you will be sitting in a field of pea gravel! the website for the track is www.waterfordhills.com
depending on your experience level, will decide which group you will be running with. basically beginner, intermediate, and experienced. whichever group you are in, you will be given an instructor to help you out throughout the day. they will ride along for as long as you would like or they will sign you off and you wil be able to go out on your own for however many sessions are left.
normal track days will give you 4 twenty minute segments, which if you have never done this before will definately be enough.
the instructors will be fellow scca and nasa license holders, who are very experienced in getting an fbody around the track, safely and quickly.
we are trying to coincide this track day event with our asedan showcase race weekend at the track. the asedan showcase race features only camaros, firebirds, and mustangs in a 10 lap battle. normally throughout a race weekend we race in the big bore group which includes t1,t2,t3, ite corvettes, and dp cars. so this feature is always a special treat for us asedan drivers.
we will also be putting together a car show on the hill for all fbodies to attend and to watch the races from a really good vantage point. we will also be ablt to get the fbody drivers who participate in the drivers day, paddock passes so you can also enjoy the races from inside the pits and get a good idea of what goes on in setting up an fbody for racing .
if this sounds like something you would like to do, please reply or send me a pm and i can get you more information. right now we are trying to keep the cost down to around 125 a driver which is cheaper then any other club at the track, but that price is dependant on how many drivers we get. due to regulations we are limited to the first 45 drivers who sign up. thanks john
