How to make a trans job last 5 days......

So the trans was going bad on my daily driver... a 91 RS with the 305/700R4 and we started this job in my garage on monday at around 5PM. Of course i would have to have those damn ground effects on this car and no 2x4's to help the jack under......needless to say that process wasnt quick. Before I proceed with the story, i picked up a used 700R4 off of the greatest site ever(craigslist) for $100. So when we get under the car, we find out that the trans mount was missing a bolt and the other was halfway out..... when we took off the crossmember we snapped 2 of the bolts.....lol (this wasnt the last of the bolt breaking) so we proceeded to take the trans out and set it on the floor to switch the tailshafts..... also had to take off the shift linkage bracket from the new one (from a different model) and that bolt also broke so the new plan was to weld the correct one on we dont have a welder, but close family does....so we had to put this project on hold til tuesday. Tuesday rolls around i find out that i need to get a new flex-plate so i go get the new one and we put it in backwards (but we didnt know at the time we were kinda in a hurry). So we bolt the trans up and then get too cold to continue so done for tuesday. Wednesday comes and still no welder... wasted day. Thursday comes and we realize that the torque converter doesnt bolt up right, we realize that we put it on backwards so we get pissed and stop working for the night. So heres friday and here i am repeating step one. however it is possible to replace the flex-plate without actually dropping the trans so i didnt have to do ALL of step one. So at the end of the night its ready to be flipped, but we are cold so we call it a night. Saturday.....finally we switch it around, then weld the bracket and bolt it back up do by sat night we are finally ready to drive. Moral of the story, never work on a car in a hurry, and Murphy's Law is ALWAYS in effect. Well thanks for listening to me blabber on. I'll seeya around the forums.

Justin
