I need opinions on an old idea.

For the few of you that know me, my bad legs are slowly killing my military career and I have gone back to OTR truck driving in the civilian world. I feel that there is too many problems with shipping small parts across country and that I maybe able to help. I am willing to move your parts for FREE assuming you can meet me somewhere on my route. Yeah, read that again, move parts across country for FREE, no money, nothing, nada, spend it on beer, gas, and other much needed things. I'm doing this as a way of paying back the third gen community for the years of help and to help keep our hobby alive.

I used to do this back a few years ago for turbosaturns.net (which is gone now), saturnfans.com, and have thrown the offer out to the fiero community, which I have only helped 2 people. One member of the thirdgen.org community that can be contacted for reference is paulisgod, I delivered parts to him for free when we both were in Saturns.

Now for the hard part, my rules, that are in no way bendable, and no, I won't do it just one time.
1. Nothing illegal, no drugs, alcohol, or firearms. No.
2. Nothing across our (USA) borders. While I can cross country borders, it is a hassle and I do my best to avoid it and rarely do I get a load that goes over the border.
3. No super big or heavy parts, engines, transmissions, big body parts, or whole cars. Available space is about 6-8 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 sometimes 5 feet high. Object has to be able to be carried by hand.
4. Shipper must put it on the truck and customer must take it off. I shouldn't have to put my hands on it for any reason.
5. Object must be able to take whatever the outside temperature is because rarely do I get a reefer. Part can be put on shelf or closet inside cab. I am using the outside toolbox as a compartment for the generator and it is so snug, a TPI plenum barely fits. Something small can go there and yes, I do lock it. The generator cost me $9000!
6. I need phone numbers of both parties to contact them and give them a heads up on time of arrival. I only stop at truck stops and weigh stations, very rarely, anywhere else.
7. If there is a problem with getting the wrong parts or what not, I will only deliver it back when I am planning on heading back. You get what you pay for, and I'm not UPS.
8. I can take you with me if the load doesn't need to get anywhere quickly. Otherwise my partner would come with me for the trip. That doesn't mean if you come with, you bring your whole house with you, just what you need for 2-4 days. If you don't like Disturbed, Metallica, Journey, Van Halen, Creed, or DMX, stay home, you will hate riding with me. Also you will have to hear the CB radio alot.
9. I can give approximate time of when I will be at my destination but because of weigh stations, highway patrol, and road closings, it may take longer than expected, but I will not be blamed or held accountable for parts running late.
10. I will watch my PM's for messages and keep people informed of my route, but at times pickups do change. I reserve the right to refuse any load even if it falls within my rules, because of possible changes or time restraints.

Now if this is something that seems like a good idea, and someone is interested, PM me. You opinions should be left on this post. I live in Elk Grove Village, IL and truck lot is in Des Plaines. I also make stops in Rockford, Addison, Seneca, and Des Moines before heading out. Pm me with what you need and I'll do my best. I am taking a break for the rest of the week but it looks like I have to go to Millegeville, Georgia next week, drop, pickup, and go to Galax, Virginia, and come back to Chicago. That is what is coming up ahead.

WOW! YOU ARE DOING THIS AGAIN? It has been sometime since the "9/11 helping America post." I got your PM so yes, I'll testify.

Yes, he will deliver your parts for free and yes he will take you with him and yes he is a good guy.

There is one part wrong though, not once from Columbia,SC to Chicago,IL, did I hear one single song by Creed. It was all that head banging and energy or techno or trance, or whatever you kids call it. I remember when we did that, it was in the fall of 2003.

My one question is why such a small space? You used to bring long blocks and engine parts, now you can't? What's the difference now? You think you could bring a long block and some cigarettes from SC, just one more time? I will PM you my info and I still have the same military address. Thanks.

Re: I need opinions on an old idea.

Four bangers were alot less weight and not so big. Our V8's are twice as big and more than twice the weight. I offer this free of charge but I can't allow it to interfere with my scheduled load. I move alot of things that require a hazmat. That is a pain because I don't want to mix something that shouldn't be next to each other.

Oh, and by the way, you are a cheap bastard. Cigarettes are only a bit cheaper than the burbs of IL. I know that Chicago is expensive but I think that it's the same as Ft. Jackson out in the burbs here. Where are you at anyway?

I wanted to say thanks to all4u for delivering my nitrous system and my tpi runners. I was shot down once by him because he said a ram air hood was too big and heavy, but whatever, I used him on this and I don't know what shipping would have been but I spent that money on xmas gifts. Thanks dude, and thanks for serving our nation.
