Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

Are those the halo ringed projector lights, or just the projector lights? Either way mine have that nice film over them and look crappy and work well.. crappy.. I was saving up for the halo projectors but eh i need some soon as i drive home in the dark at 4:00 am every morning so deer run out infront of me like crazy (how i tottaled my show truck)

Id love to snag that hood up man, sadly i dont think it'd fit with my set up, running a carb set up now, and i have a drop down air cleaner pan, but from the looks a stock hood will hit... and man is my backwoods hacked job hood UGLY.. i fell like i have discraced the car by putting that hood on my car, but it was free so i can not complane.... well to much lol

Regardless shoot me a price on them headlights.

Probably around 7 or so. A friend of mine did the initial cutting and me and my dad did the foam and fiberglass.

What's your plan as far as the center pillars are concerned? Are you going to foam those as well? Handcrafting something like that to appear balanced seems like a difficult task.

I did foam the center posts already and then I put fiberglass over it. I'm still working with the fiberglass a bit more then I'll put body puddy over it and start putting primer on it. It needs a lot of work still.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

I love building stuff from foam and fiberglass... may end up building my first hood useing those methods... well first camaro hood, i built 20 92 ranger hoods with cowls and cool looking cut outs. The one on my custom "86" ranger was sweet. Little background on it, 86 chassis, cab, bed, 92 front clip, 69 boss 302 bored 60 over and stroked, 100 shot of nitrus and well a ton of crap done, mustang II front end welded on, 90 mustang cobra rear end, running 92 ford probe gt wheels (i cheaped out there lol) it was a bad little ride..

The hood i built had a 3 inch cowl, with the words 302 Boss carved out in old english, with a netting fiberglassed behind it, with a blue led neon mounted on both sides behind the netting, so at night the light shined threw and the words lit up... Wish i still had photos.. but thats basicly what im starting to work on for the camaros.. and well if they tern out build custom ones for people who want one real bad like.

Nick i cant wait to see that spoiler done, i bet its gonna look killer

I forget the exact name but its like "amazing stuff" or "incredible stuff", something like that. It comes in a can like wd-40 and it expands. People use it to fill gaps in the windows in their home and things like that.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

Yeah that stuff is awesome, but i have some stuff that is REAL WICKED, its called Part A, Part B, and Part C...

Take small bottle A, and mix with small bottle B, into HUGE bottle C and shake for 5 seconds... then cut top off bottle C or it WILL explode lol.

Its called "Ped Foam" or Pedistal foam, if you see a phone company guy working along side the road ask him about Pedistal foam.. You get a huge ammount of HARD foam with no bubbles in it out of a small 2 bottle package.. Well worth the price i got mine at. (FREE but i worked for the phone company at the time lol)

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

The bondo step is about done, just needs a few scratches filled from the sand paper and the screw driver that the person I got it from apparently used on the top side of it.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get it in primer and start filling holes on the trunk.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

After using some high build primer, it looks good enough that after a very thin coat of filler and another coat of primer, it will be ready for some blue. There are just a few spots on the top that need to be filled still, but they are so minor it's not going to take much at all.

I think it will be finished next weekend, then I'll concentrate on the trunk lid.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

sprayable puddy works awesome with fiberglass..pretty much like primer except it doesnt shrink over time. fills like puddy and sands like primer. looks like you got it pretty straight though from what i can tell.

BTW you had a particular gauge in your car that had about every reading you can think of.. you wouldnt happen to have a PN for that would you?

Depends on what you want. Most shops won't take restorations. They take too much time and don't pay good.. Our shop does everything the right way and we cut no corners. We have a very good reputation. (Hagedorn collision repair)

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

I just slaped a 305 in it for temporary motor, and to get some MPG out of it.

Its a fresh $500 motor so cheap and runs and gets me down the road lol

305 .30 over mild rv cam freshly rebuilt heads, hooker shorty headers, my old intake and crappy carb. It still needs some tweaking and tuning to get it set right. The hood was a $30 hood out of a junk yard i got for a x-mas gift and I didnt complane cuz i had no hood at the time, I am currently trying to buy a used Daytona hood the guy is working on getting me a shipping quote.

so $500 with a $500 motor and $250 worth of rear tires for a daily driver getting around 20 mpg... i wont complane for now lol, as it was costing me $130 a week in my truck till i hit a deer with it and tottaled it out.

O'fallon, mo here. Hoping to get a 3rd gen this summer(first car) and, after getting a job, build a 383 for it. Like you said, I'm the only person I know who likes the 3rd gens.
Once I get it, we should all go race down 370

No, I don't be careful on here we love newbies but being young on this site will get you a lot of trash talk and be careful what you post. Your ignorant to the facts and the info. Just be careful. It's not about racing. Legal or illegal its a culture.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

I dont know if rogersville is to far away from where your at, but its a nice track and a fun track, you can legally race any car down the strip, even saw a remote control drag race on the track lol... They race brackets on saterdays and heads up fridays (test n tune days)

As for a 16 year old being able to find a job thats not fast food your looking at being a stock boy or cashier... Maybe some body shop would hire you to clean up after you get out of school... BUT most places WILL NOT hire anyone UNDER 18 dew to insurance issues. Sooooo your kinda stuck...

Age isnt everything Josh at 12 years old i was working at a friends body shop, started just cleaning and watching..... 1 year latter i was doing fiberglass work and layin down bondo, and doing primer work... 8 mounths after that i was painting custom paint scheems.. <---thus is why i sucked at school lol had no want to learn that stuff just wanted to work on cars, and well my grades sucked till i went to vo-tech for autobody... pulled strait As... at 18 years old i was makeing bank doing custom paint.. sadly a wreak took my skills.....

So just saying age aint everything... my 8 year old nephew knows how to build a 302 lol...

I never thought of cleaning at an auto body shop. I'll have to make some calls. Thanks for the Idea.

o i know age isnt anything im just saying where were located there isnt anything. also just some people are rude about alot of the young people on this site. i was there a few years ago at only 20 now. i have learned so much from this site and just the atmosphere of the people being around cars. being young means your ignorant of information and facts to some people. im just giving him a heads up. no hard feelings.

get ahold of me falconman when you go check out thirdgens around me or some of the other guys around can give you a hand.

you're paying for gas
heads up- I can only spend $1000 on a driveable car, so it won't be in the best condition.

Yes, I know they're fords, But Terminators are fast.
I just think it's funny all this talk about gateway or m.a.r opening up in July. There won't be anything opening this year, and I can tell you that's a fact, were one of the sponsors for m.a.r and they haven't even poured concrete so that's impossible, and there will most likely be no action with gateway this year.

I'll probably go but I won't be putting it on the dyno this year.

I did it last year and Ranken's dyno sucks nuts. I put down 365rwhp at Ranken and 420rwhp at PUR Performance.

With the same set up and everything?I know dynos vary from different places, but as long as you use the same dyno for tuning purposes that's not much of a factor unless your trying to see big numbers, but yeah after hearing that I'm not gonna waste my money to deprive me of my hard work lol but whose to say pur performance's isn't wrong?

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys

The ranken dyno is a Mustang dyno which is typically better for tuning but it's not what most use when they are talking about their hp and torque numbers in conversation. The PUR dyno is a dynojet.

PUR is having their spring kickoff open house car show I think on April 23rd. You could google them to be sure though, it's in st peters. I'll be there at least for a little while, and they're doing discounted dyno runs, I think it's something like $40 for three pulls.

its $20 a pull i think, and with the mustand dyno's you have to calculate all the aspects of the car weight, arodynamics, etc etc. you can get more accurate with the mustang dyno. but i would like to see higher numbers. both my cars are running extremly rich and need tunes. i can email anyone the flyer to the show just email me or pm me for it. and for any info. i will be working the show and ill be there at like 7am. if you come or plan on coming i would like to meet up with some of you. pm me and can share numbers.

I just got a job today at I-70 auto service. $9 an hour. Pretty good for being 16 y/o for only 3 weeks. I came up with at least $8,000 this year. plus the shop just opened and the hours will be extended pretty soon. I love the pay part of jobs.
