Somebody in the Mid-Michigan Area

Summer is fast approaching in the rust belt and folks are about to start cruisin', putting the finishing touches on, or start back on their 3rd gen projects. It's those last two types of people I want to reach out to. I've been trolling this site for a years, and have been ready to get my hands dirty, just finally actually asking. There's virtually no integrity in a place like Craigslist, for a request like this, so here I am.

Dilemma: I am mechanically challenged.

Basically want someone who could use (or at least won't mind) a helping hand with their project. I don't want you to hold my hand (per se), just let me be a sponge and actively participate in helping you do what ever it is you're already doing. Never done any kind of anything, but I'm eager and coachable. So if you want to start me out on cleaning crud off parts, be my guess. My natural interest though gravitate towards body work, but whatever's clever is enough. Think of it as a pseudo-apprenticeship. All I want is to learn, plain-and-simple.

WIIFY: A case of your favorite beer to split with yourself.

Feel like I'd make a decent "pal" if you like to shoot the **** while we work. Or I know how to be silent, and jam to the AM/FM. Very much a straight shooting, emotionally cold, laid back man's man. Pick up on things fairly quick, I don't complain, I don't get burned out easily, and I'm just ready to learn how to change a tire for ****'s sake.

Distance: I'm located in Lansing area, so the closer the better. But hell, I wouldn't mind going as far west as Ann Arbor (Detroit maybe?). As far north as Mt. Pleasant. As far east as Kalamazoo/GR. And as far south as Jackson.

Keep in mind, my goal isn't to inconvenience anyone, just tag along, and pick your brain if you say it's cool. The vehicle isn't required to be 3rdgen, long as I can learn some skills that could somehow translate, or give me a basis for understanding.

Hopefully this type of thread is in appropriate.
