I just bought my 3rd car, I have a daily driver, a 1 ton truck for hauling/towing and the camaro which only comes out when the temp is about 50. any recommendations for insurance in illinois? i'd like to get one where i can tell them to not insure the camaro from november to april, but my current one doesn't do it. thanks!

 

I am with State Farm right now and had American Family before that. I have 7 cars and have had no trouble with either company as far as insuring for whatever term that i want to drive a certain car. My billing is for 6 months at a time. If I can I try and insure full coverage for 6 months during best weather and storage for opposite 6 months. I only drove one of my cars for about 1 month this summer, they billed me for 6 months @300.00 so I went in and paid them 100.00 right away, than when I was ready to store the car, I called them and had them change the coverage. I ended up being just about even on the $$$ end. The reat of the 100.00 went to pay the 5 months of storage coverage which is around 55.00/6 months coverage.
The other way to do it is if you have full coverage, then call your agent and drop the collision coverage and leave the other coverages on the vehicle. That's close enough to storage coverage. The only problem you might have is if you owe on the car. If there's a loan then some banks require full coverage at all times.
