new here and need a little help

i have what is suppossed to be a 1983 z28 but there is no VIN on the dash and it has all IROC skirts and front nose cone. someone spray painted this car white and did the worst job i have ever seen. the only vin i have seen on the car is whats on the top of the core support for the radiator, and it seems like its not the one for this car. it also says that its an 1983 on the title on the dash it says z28 and under that it says tuned port injection, i thought in '83 it was cfi not tpi. i just want to know if there is any way if i can find out what year and model this car is. thanks.

Re: new here and need a little help

The Correct VIN Has To Be On The Title.

Re: new here and need a little help

the vin on the plate located on the core support matches the one on the title but nothing about this car adds up its not the original engine its painted like trash theres no full vin and it looks like an IROC and what if someone got a title for an '83 and a core VIN plate and put them together. i just really want to know because this has been driving me nuts ever since i bought the car.

Man, what a mess.
You say you bought this car?? No VIN on the dash? I would do a VIN check for starters.

As gt4373 said...."The Correct VIN Has To Be On The Title." Do you have that?

Re: new here and need a little help

i did a vin check with the one that is on the title and it shows up as a '83 z28 but things just havent been adding up with this car im not sure if there would be any other spots where i can look for a vin but there is really no other VIN numbers on the car but the one on the core support. i did not have any issues doing the title transfer or any of that but i just have really no idea what year or model it is because like i said, nothing adds up with this car. i appreciate the response and any help i can get

Re: new here and need a little help

The VIN Should Also Be On A Tag On The Driver's Side Door,And On The Service Parts Identification Tag Under The Center Console Door.

Re: new here and need a little help

I know that the tag on the center console door is gone, as for the drivers side door its either gone or painted over.

Re: new here and need a little help

If its really a later model the RPO tag could be in the drivers side rear compartment under the lid. but like they said, bottom of windshield, drivers door, and the RPO tag whether its in the center console or rear compartment. The history/originality section might have more info for you. These regional threads aren't always very informational.

If you can determine if the sticker in the drivers door is there, you should be able to wipe the paint off with a rag and paint thinner. BE CAREFUL!!
