I need some more third gens for a F-body vs Y-body shootout at Byron,IL..
How's it going guys and gals. I run a F-body vs Y-body shootout twice a year at Byron dragway in Byron,Il. This will be the third event and both times before I'm the only 3rd gen. Mid 14's does me no good when everone else is running LT1's, LS1's, LT4's, and even a few LS6 cars. If I can get more third gens the can run in thier own catigory and get there own trophies. I see that you guys in Peoria are getting a group together sounds like something you guys could do together. Byron is only 2 hours north just off I-39. The date is May 18th. I'd like to have a few cars to run with, and maybe beat a few of you.
Here is Byron's wb page

Are you talking about the Midwest F-body Shootout F-bldy vs Y-body? There was a revision to the 2002 schedule as of 1/22. If that is the event you are referring to it is scheduled for April 20th.
I've never been to the races in Biron. Shootout means no brackets, right? My cars fast time is 13.2 @ 107 w/3.08 gears. I'm installing 3.73s shortly that should be good for a 12.
How fast are the vettes and 4th gens running? Are alot of them stockers just having some fun or is there some serious hardware running?
I can't say whether or not it I would be able to go due to my work schedule. I don't know what shift I'm working 2 weeks from now much less having a Saturday off. It does sound like fun though.

That sounds like serious fun!
If I can get the car running by then I'll be there! I'd love to put a spanking on those Vettes
If not this time you said that you do it twice a year so I will make the next one. This is heads up racing, right? I hate bracket racing.

Man QwkTrip's car scares me! I want it! I have a slow 92 RS that could possibly come and look cool sitting in the parking lot. I'm also good at getting people pumped up, I don't know how pumped up you guys have to be to race.

Heck, you need to get in your car and let it rip!
It's fun to run down the quarter and there are always other cars that will be good competition for you. It's not how fast you run but that you can have fun doing it. If anything you'll have more time on the track to have fun than people who run faster!

hey guys, Ive never been to byron (union grove only)... but Id love to beat some vette ***. I plan on running a 125 shot this season and hopefully running some mid 11s with traction at near 120. Im not a bracket racer but Id grudge race. Lemme know how far away byron is from where Im at and how serious of a setup you have going on.

Yes the day is changed, the new day is May 18th. As far as times the winning vette ran a 9, and he drove to and from the track. The cars are highly modified. That is why I'm trying to get more third gens so we run to gether and then the top 2 run heads up for the fastest. It's a blast even if you can beat a 9 sec vette. Give it a try. Email me if you have any questions.
