I'm still kickin'! I've been working at starting a new custom paint shop, and haven't been on TGO for a while. I had visited a few times, but evidently I was logged out 😁

Glad to hear you're still alive and kicking! And GL with the new business venture.

Hey, that's awesome. I'm really happy for you. Best of luck with your new business. You do fantastic work.
I just dropped my GTA off at the paint shop yesterday. It's a very reputable Corvette restoration shop that is local to me, but if I wasn't 2,000 miles away I would have gladly had you do my car.
Some crazy ideas just ran through my head in an instant. Maybe hanging in a front window or outside on the building where the old DX service station diamond signs were. We can make just about anything you can think of in a small to a pretty large size neon sign.
Will you be painting cars or just motorcycles in this new shop?
It looks like a skinny building so I don't know if any of those bays are big enough for a large paint booth but they may be a lot bigger than they look.

So, I'm planning on leaving the patina look of the building as it currently sits. You can see where the DX Diamond logo used to be on the front of the building, and im on the hunt for an original DX sign to put back up there. I am going to use that same logo with DESIGNS in a fast, cursive looking font below it.
For where the big, boarded up spot where the big window used to be, I was going to paint an aluminum sheet to go there, and make it look like an old DX Super Boron gas pump sign. I'm not sure yet on what I'll put above the center walk in door where the small window was removed...
I'll be doing some small car stuff here and there, but so far am getting swamped with motorcycles, which are actually my specialty, anyways.
The building gets deeper as it goes to the west. (To the right in the picture) The East bay is small, but works well as a wash bay. The center shop area is where i paint, and the bigger addition on the west end is where the bodywork, etc is done.
I'll check out your neon signs, that sounds like it'd be awesome! I still have some work to do inside the main entrance, but have it full of car stuff! A neon sign would fit right in!
Also, the building has an upstairs, that is the same square footage as the rest of the building. There's a giant room above the west shop area that is gonna get windows, ac and heat, and be a mancave/jam room

The neon signs are my best friend Joe's deal and I just help him out with them. Unloading and loading, packaging, random design ideas, pictures. He is a member here too but doesn't post often. He just got 9 neon signs in yesterday and it about killed us getting them unloaded and tested. We are both gimps with bad shoulders and if you added us both together we equal about 3/4 of an able bodied person on a good day.
Not trying to turn this into a neon sign thread but if you liked those and I know you like 3rd Gens, TTAs, and Turbo Buicks then you might get a kick out of seeing these too. These look way better in real life. The camera sensor and DSP in the camera always make these look somewhat weird. Digital cameras just can't do neon justice. Seen with real eyes they blow you away.
Indy 500 goes nice with the Turbo TA neon sign. This sign is 72" by 36" GNX Grand National Grand National Intercooled

I don't even like European cars but this Porsche neon sign is one of my favorites out of all I've laid eyes on so far. I haven't seen the 9 new signs yet in all their glory though.
