Where exactly are you? I could send you to the place that did mine. I'll tell you right off the bat, its going to be at least 2Gs. They do great work, so its not cheap!

Oh, ok! So you don't drive yet, right? If i were you i would save my money for a nice paint job, if thats what you want. My body shop does not touch cars that have been to Macco so i am not sure if many other "quality" shops would too. The car needs to be totally stripped to the metal if it has been touched by Macco. I have been told that they use a cheap paint and so all of it needs to come off prior to a good paint job. I don't know, good luck.

uh oh, better get maaco

seriously though, each maaco is a seperatley owned franchise, so you might find a good one

i had my RS done at maaco, they paint is still holding up great 2 years later, looks really good too, not a show car, but was definetly worth the $400 i paid

i hear (and saw) the maaco in south toms river is really good, i am pretty sure thats where i am bringing my Z28

Yes i can agree on that, when all the HID headlights out of the maximas at pine belt were stolen the cars came back with sand scratches and they didn't mix the clear very well and it was dull as hell and there was some overspray in other areas, i would not take my car to maaco but i can say 1991tealRSt-topGuy's maaco job does look really good...and im very **** about paint jobs if you could tell....

Tilton's in lakewood painted a friends car, blue, green and purple...was a chameleon color and it came it id rate it like a 9-9.5 only thing was a bit of overspray under the mirror which when he brought it to there attention they fixed...then it looked like a factory paint job...

My freind had his Subaru painted there ,at Tiltons. It came out pretty damn good. I would rate it around a 9 as well. If you don't have the money, take your chances at Macco or atleast do the prep work before you take it in to them.

I think you should try to get a job maybe cleaning, detailing, prepping cars after school in a local bodyshop. Get friendly with the owners & co-workers and they will be happy to take care of you.
Try to find a shop that is clean, has modern equipment, and lots of smashed cars waiting to be fixed. I would just stop in, ask for the manager, and ask if they need any help. You could start off cleaning cars that are ready for delivery and if you are good worker will be learning prep and reconditioning in no time. Once you've been there for a while and make some friend's, ask for a paint job.

The painter in my bodyshop is doing a flip-flop job for me, real soon. This kid is one of the best painter's I've ever seen, but can't turn a wrench. I worked on his car, he does mine. The best part, it will probably cost me less than $500 for a job that would be $3,500 easily. One hand washes the other.

Hey, back to Maaco. If you really need to get the car painted I'd try and talk to some folks who have been to the Maaco near you. I know that the Maaco near me in Brewer Maine has a fairly good reputation and I got my '69 GTO painted there. I got 9 hours of bodywork, and their super urethane paint (one step below basecoat clearcoat) plus integrated clearcoat (clearcoat sprayed w/ the paint) for under $1,000 (it was like $900 something) I was very happy with the work, they were very quick about it and the paint held up very well as long as I had the car. If you NEED the paint job (to keep the car from rotting out from under you or something like that) and you aren't going for a 100% show stopping paint job I'd go for it with Maaco. Just make sure you talk to other people who have used that franchise, because every single one has a different level of quality!

Here's a pic of my GTO the day I picked it up

(my appologies if it takes too long to load on dialup, I think it's small enough to be managable though)

i'm not sure which maaco but my car was painted by maaco and developed rust from it...so find out the reputation, i know toms river maaco does decent work but i wouldn't do anything less then bc/cc....basecoat clearcoat, it shines better and is more durable and lasts longer....

No, my freind Victor. You wouldn't miss his car, it is bright orange! Gunmetal wheels, carbonfiber hood, japaneese body kit, the whole nine yards. HIDs too. Nice car, too bad it is slow! lol
