LI insurance

Any LI guys have a good lead on insurance. My car is running but still needs body work and interior done. I only drive it to test how the progress on the motor is coming. This is my third car so I just need enough to get it registered and out for short test-runs. My insurance guy gave me a quote of $900 per year (liability only), which seems high considering my Impala SS and T&C minivan are only $1100 each (for full coverage).

My neighbor has collector insurance on his 96 vette and only pays about $300 per year. Anybody know anyone that does something like this? My neighbor said his guy stopped doing the collector insurance but he got grandfathered in. I have no problem paying the $900 when the car is finished and I actually use it, but for now it seems exorbitant.

Any help is appreciated.

Kevin

Hagerty Insurance is a good one

But they normally don't insure uncomplete cars. Ask your agent if he would bind coverage while you test drive, then delete the coverage after your done. Not all agents do this, but its worth asking.

hi kevin,
i have collectors car insurance on my 87 aerocoupe thru Great American Insurance Group. my policy cost about $211 annually for $13,000 agreed value and i can drive it for 1,000mi annually. the only prereqs are it must be stored in a locked garage, i have a newer car for daily transportation and the normal pics of the car, front/rear corner. i am on LI myself, so they do cover this area just verify if they cover your vehicle type. (just to let u know mine is covered as an exotic, why i dont know, but it is)
HTH
Good Luck!
