cant locate RPO's
cant locate RPO's
Hey guys,
I've been looking for the RPO codes for my 86 TA, but I cant locate them. I see the ones in my 92RS, those are in the compartment in the rear.
Could someone tell me or post a pic of where it might be

On a 86 they should be on the underside of your center counsel door. At least that is where they are on the Camaros in that year. HTH's?

Umm that may be tough. I know for my Monte SS you can get a package from GM by usign your VIN. The last few digits of the VIN will give you some of the info, but not sure how to get it all for F bodies. Anyone else????

i know gm does have restoration packets......, but i dunno if they'd carry them for thirdgens yet.....
i was gonna say, if the car was a 90 or newer, local gm dealer should eb able to pull the rpo codes by searchign the vin, but that won't apply here.

Try robertg's advice and go to a dealer and see what they can pull up. I thought my car was too old but they were able to give me all my codes without problems... and at no charge. It's worth a shot, even if the VIN is too old for their records. But what have you got to lose?

here's an idea as well...
some dealers may keep their old manuals for reference purposes... a couple years ago, the guy i bought my 5 speed camaro from went to our local chevy dealer, and obtained a 1987 shop manual for nothing at all. it gave him detailed information on the brake assemblies, transmissions, etc. and the car in question was an 84.
just an idea, they may still keep the books.
