Greetings, all....

As mentioned on the General Tech board, I may be purchasing a 1986 Trans Am project car later this week. I'm not an expert mechanic and I don't have a garage, so it goes without saying that I'll need to take it to a shop every so often.

Can anybody reccomend any good shops in the Philly area that won't rip me off, and also do state inspections? (I live in the East Falls / Germantown area, near Philadelphia University.)

I'll probably also need a body shop as well (car has minor accident damage and will likely need to be repainted at some point), but that's not an immediate need.

Bonus points if the shop is located near SEPTA or PATCO public transit, so that I can get to/from home in case I need to leave the car overnight.

The place I go to is on the other side of the Delaware River. AJ's auto body in Deptford, NJ. It's about 10 minutes from Philly. He's gonna be doing all the body work and painting on my car. I've seen a lot of the work he's done and it looks beautiful. The guys name is Mike Zappley. His number is 856-251-0096. His address is 1345 Delsea Drive Deptford, NJ 08096. The place where most of my "hard work" is done to my car is Washington Recovery in Blackwood, NJ. I know the guys there and they've really helped me out when I've gotten stuck on some problems on my car. That number is 856-227-1525. Both I'd highly recommend if you don't mind crossing the Delaware.

 

I goto Monro in Cherry Hill on Haddonfield, they do great work unlike pepboys never ever go there. Monro is great, they do a whole lot of stuff free for me ALL the time, today they did a check of my brakes just cause I was worried and didnt charge me a dime. They are resonably priced and never scrweed up the 3 years I'v e been going there.
