Title

Wassup ppl hows it going. Been a little while I think since I visited the site. Anyways I still currently own a black and gold 87 TA 305 5.0 4bl carb etc.......... I recently came across a red 87 TA with a engine swap it has a small block chevy 350 with doule pump carb, hedders and a few other mods. Cars body is very clean and so is the interior. Car runs good. Hes selling it to me for dirt cheap. $500. Only prob is he doesnt have the title. Says he never did. Now I dont know if this is a scam or what. I could always use it for parts buts its tooooo nice and clean looking for that. I would really hate to strip her for my car. id rather have her and sell mines (which is very clean as well ,im just a sucker for a faster engine red and t-tops which is wat this titless car has). My main question and reason for this thread is, how do i go about getting a title, what to look for etc... and what am i looking at price wise for a title on average. thanks in adavance.

Re: Title

i think i would be very careful . why no title ?? stolen ? totaled at some time ?? something seems very wrong . if it sounds too good to be true it may well be .

Re: Title

Those things definately have gone through my mind, but if it were stolen I doubt they would have it in there front yard in plain sight with a huge for sale sign on it. Accident? Maybe but wont that come up when I try to get the title anyways, Im sure DMv would have that on record maybe. IDK I have never had to aquire a title before.

Re: Title

Oh well disregard this post. I ended up not getting the car. The whole thing ended up being too fishy. I went to the guys house the one night with the intention of buying it, but the guy wasnt home. Instead his "friend" was there and he he was allowed to take the money and give me the car. I checked it out one more time. Turned it on. Listened to the engine run very carefully and noticed/heard it had a slight knock. Reason it was so hard to hear was it was some custom chevy 350 engione that was very loud, but I noticed it this time. Then I remember that the guy said the car was low on oil so he filled her up for me and put 10 in gas. I think he tried putting thick truck oil or something to hide the knock, which worked the first time I guess which is why i didnt hear it. This time though it was very apparent. Anyways, no title and all this led to a no buy. for the better to because the next day an 89 Formula 5.7 TPI popped up for $400 fully intact only needing a fuel pump and paint job. Funny how things work out.
