Re: ct tunning?

I haven't heard of any shop that really knows what they're doing for TPI 3rd gens, hence why most of us in the Hartford CT area DIY. What type of mods did you do that requires tuning? Or are you just looking to get your car a general tune up?

Re: ct tunning?

well it doesnt have anything crazy just flowmasters, intake, 52mm tb 8mm spark plug wires and shift kit. but i put it on the dyno and the numbers were real low. so i was told by several ppl that it needs to be tuned

Re: ct tunning?

A shift kit and 8mm wires isnt going to do anything for your HP #'s. The 52mm TB maybe a small, small amount. Sounds more like you should get an actual tune up (check the timing, new plugs gapped at the right amount, oil change, etc). Then the next thing would be to actually get a good scan/datalog on it to see how the car is running in terms of volumetric effiency, BLM and AFR. Who knows, you could be running lean, rich, etc. Who did the dyno time? Did they give you a printout of the results? Did they have a sniffer hooked up on the tailpipe so you can see what the AFR was doing during the pull?

Re: ct tunning?

jmmass, without an AFR report you have no idea where the car was during that pull for air / fuel ration...lean or rich. There could be some power to be had depending on where your engine was running.
