good engine/tune mechanic in ct? please help

Hey guys i live in Torrington Connecticut 06790

I'm looking for a garage that has a reliable fair mechanic

my car runs fine except a high idle of 900-1000

i've done all i can with this car to the best of my abilities and research

either he can tune my car to get that last bit of performance out of it or mayeb find the reason my idle is what it is

if its an air leak i've done what i could i'm not going to spray wd-40 all over my engine lookin for the stupid thing

basically a fair old mom n pop mechanic in connecticut that does good work and won't try to take advantage

anyone? a name or number or address would be great thanks guys

hmm, theres a mechanic at Jackson Chevy in Middletown, hes one of my friends dads and hes really good, nobody could figure out one of the problems we were having so before scraping the car we decided to bring it there and he diagnosied it within 15 minutes. If I were you I'd bring it there and they'll take care of you.

Re: good engine/tune mechanic in ct? please help

ive done all i can myself

i cant get my engine to idle below 900

replaced parts and sensors, tried to do what manuals and people on here have said to do

car starts and runs fine

just also want a professional opinion on if he/she can tune it better and or make it more efficient

or if they can tell me that my personal engine mods have made it impossible to get the idle down and the engine is as good as it can get given its age and mileage

i might be over paranoid or whatever

but i just want to give my car a checkup because it will give me piece of mind

I can't remember his name.. I'll talk to my friend tomorrow and try to get his dads number for you, maybe he'd do it on the side for even cheaper.

Also, when checking for vacuum leaks you dont' use wd40. Use propane from a handheld torch (the blue bottle). And spray around the intake. You'll hear the rpms race if theres an intake gasket leak. Otherwise, another way is to use a rag in one hand and brake cleaner in the other to spary vacuum lines, that will cause the rpms to race as well.

Re: good engine/tune mechanic in ct? please help

yea no thanks

im done, finished. i just want to enjoy the car

i appreciate your info i really do

im just finished when it comes to my engine

ill do body work and interior work alll day

but i can only tweak and tune my engine to a point. im not a mechanic i only know what i can understand and read

and i dont understand everytihng with a cars engine

i did what i could to the best of my abilities but the patience has been tried and done with

its more of a question of time and patience then it is with money id rather pay someone a few hundred bucks to save me more time and more agrevation

if you saw what i did with my car you can see ive done enough my self

now i just want to put the wrench down and enjoy it

if it was only a small number of places id do it my self but it can be an infinite number of places seeing as an air/vaccuum leak can be thinner then a piece of paper

now any other mechanics closer to torrington would be great but anywhere in ct is fine thanks guys keep the posts coming

Re: good engine/tune mechanic in ct? please help

and dont get me wrong on how bad my car is

its fine!!

starts and runs and drives great

just annoying to see my idle so high thats all

and im curious to see if a professional notices anything else not up to specs and can get my baby running even better

thats all

i can drive her till shes dust in the wind but im just curious to see if a mechanic can get her running better than she is now and get my idle down
