I rebuilt my motor and raised the compression. I forgot to get a stronger starter to go with the higher compression. So when i would try to start it, it would lagg and sometimes get stuck. When the motor was cold it would turn over fine. Just when it was at normal operating temp. it would get stuck. Well I made the mistake of push starting it and thats when a lifter collapsed. Now, when I start it after its sat over night, the lifter taps bad for about 10 secs and then it goes away. It does'nt make any noise except after sitting for a while. It's a 91 l98. Should I re-adjust the valves to get 0 lash again or am I going to have to replace the lifter?
