NEW NJ Inspections

As early as July 1st of this year, NJ is considering dropping all vehicle inspections except for emissions checks. This means that cracked windshields, broken e-brakes, and no lights WILL PASS. I had my Trans Am inspected in early March and they even had to change all four side-marker bulbs.

According to a few people I know who currently do private shop inspections, OBD I cars would get almost no inspection. My Trans Am was the last OBD I car that will ever be inspected at the shop my one friend works at. The state told the private shops about a month ago that they could no longer inspect any car older than 1996. This move is already in the works.

The article below is about the new emissions checks that could take place later this year, but there is no differenciation yet between OBD I and II. How do you fellow Jersey boys and girls feel about this?

I think they realize the only big issue is emissions. It would be much easier on us!

well.. you know, if you think outside tha' box, then you will logically assume that local police are going to crack down even harder on these infractions of a blown light bulb, cracked windshield and such.... NO MORE WARNINGS... here in Cali you get a 10-15 dollar fix it ticket.. I regularly on a monthly basis try and check that my lights are in check....
