It's alive!
I finally got around to getting my blue car started last night... Sounds insane!!! Next on the list is the hydraulic release for the clutch, figure out how to dial in the DFI, then drive the thing! It has been roughly a year and a half or so.
Ready for a severe anus whooping Dwayne ? Go ahead and fill your bottle and bring all the jets you want.... Bwahahaha
(only if I have any sort of traction)...

Once I run it down the track, then I'll spill the beans. I have put entirely too much money into it, I will give that. Easily could have bought a new car for what I have under the hood....Oh well... As for the rear, try www.9bolt.com , Dwayne I believe bought parts from there, ask him about it. And the cage, just let me know when!Jason

Thats cool......Is that another project car you have? You also have that 69 camaro dont you?
Hopefully I will be getting my engine soon. My bro got his 92 Z totalled so my dad said I can have his engine. He does not want to put it back on my bros new car because he did all kinds of crazy stuff with the Z. Like outrunning a police helicopter.......... In either case the engine is mine. I want to bore it out.... put some vortec heads on it and put a super ram on it. Hopefully...... Have you done anything else to your car? Did you ever put that cage in Dans Silver camaro?

Yeah, the 57' is going to be my wifes driver/ hot rod. She has wanted one for years and I finally came across one for a good deal. The 69 Camaro is almost ready for paint....Too bad about the 92' , but at the same time, good for you. My blue car is just about ready to hit the roads, but I "may" wait to do the mini-tub first. As for Dan's car, no we have not done anything to it lately, he just had a baby boy and has spent every moment with his wife and child. We hang out on a regular basis, but the cars are low on the priority list....Once mine is back on the road though, he will be ready to do his

Yeah there fine...... I dont need them... My bro has chrome Irocs now so I dont see why not. I would have to ask him though...... Oh yeah... I think I already asked you this My 89 rear end....... I know you told me to check out 9bolt.com but will I find a descent price for a posi unit. Its the posi that is going to cost me a **** load of money. Its over 700 bucks at my dads cost. It is a BORG WARNER posi and I am guessing that is why it is costing so much. My dad said the original want was to thrashed to be rebuilt...... Do I have no other choice but to use a borg warner posi........?

The factory posi is the only one that I am aware of, that will work in a 9 bolt. What is "thrashed" ? There should be cones in it and they can be worked back into shape....I am pretty sure there is a tech article on this site telling how to make them like new. 9bolt.com had some cheap prices a while back. I may still have my stock carrier and gears out of mine.....I'll have to look.
As for my car...I do wish to run it first before letting the details out. I am only messing around with Dwayne, no smack real talking, he knows that. He is just the only one that has run a stout number so far, other than Jeff, but he moved.....So far, I have only started it in the garage, nothing more, so I don't know how it will run. For what it is, it should be an animal though!!
Jason
PM me about the wheels...I would like to get them if possible.

I know..... I am just curious to see what was done.... I will never forget the first gathering..... I thought Dwayne car was no faster than mine by the way it looked..... Until he smoked a brand new Trans Am.....
My dad was saying that the posi unit was not rebuildable.... but I will look into it more. If I take some pics would you be able to tell if it is to ruined to be fixed? I would definitly be able to save alot of money if I can reuse it again.... You mentioned that you might have parts for that?

I live in Paso Robles...about 20 minutes North of San Luis Obispo.
Dwayne is one of the funniest thirdgen owners you all will meet, crazy is another description. He lives down in Los Alamos and drives an 88 IROC with a very healthy 383 in it. His first trip to the track with the motor netted him a trap speed of 115 mph and that was without his nitrous. I think he made 3 runs before his trans. refused to allow any further passes. His car runs very good! With the combo I

Hi Folks! Been a little busy lately.
I was wondering when Jason was going to finally get that thing going. He had mentioned something a while back.
I missed the last test and tune at Fomosa so who knows how fast the car is now. I did heat the tires up and do some 4700 RPM launches and smoked some clutch. Looks like a dual disc may be needed.
Jason I hope your motor break in wasn't as exciting as mine.
Speaking of Jeff, he's still around on the boards.
Another car to look out for is Zac.
9 bolt.com is just about the only gig around for our rear ends. It's worth the investment to keep the stock rear as opposed to getting an aftermarket rear. You can always say it's stock.
Just like my small block. Thats all it is. I may give it up that it's stroked but thats only to my close friends.
It could be a BM hardcore 454 small bock

BTW I got a new tranny and went with the BMR extreme TA.
Zac, the bag DOES really work.

Dwayne...... When you went threw your rear end did you replace the posi unit or had it rebuilt.... There is only a few mechanics at my dads work that have actually worked on them..... Most of them have not seen it much.... My dad said the housing is thrashed and some of the gears are to mest up.... was yours still in good shape when you went threw it?
Jason... Any word on those extra parts you had laying around for that posi unit?

So, I guess Im the only one that noticed you mention Bill Mitchell and ATI. Is his address still 427 Blu Byu Ave.? Is that P1SC located on Centrifigal St. in Paso Robles? You cant keep much from my keen eye. I do wish I had gone bigger than a 383 back when I did the motor. I got used to the power way to quick. Dont get me wrong, Its still damn quick and alot of fun! So, you going to build this thing or bs us to death? Jeff
Hey Jeff, Dwayne and Jason ... see if you guys can make it to the Famoso private track rental. It would be great to see you guys again and those fast 3rd gens of your's. I tried to get the so-cal group out, but we know how some of them are at going to events.
Anyway, it would be cool to have you guys teach some late model cars that some 3rd gens are something to fear.
Plus I am planning on going out to a sports bar in Bakersfield to watch our videos of the days races. This bar (The Finish Line off of Rosedale Hwy, behind the Red Lion Inn) allows you to play your racing videos on their 7 TV and one big screen.

Thanks for the invite George, however I moved to Bend, OR about a year ago. Its great up here, my wife and I just love it. Madras Dragstrip less than one hour north of here. Nice little eighth mile strip. Bend has a great car community. Many more activities than we had in and around Santa Maria. Now Dwayne might make it, if he hasnt broke something again. Jasons car is just a rumor, someone let me know if you ever see it running again!

Jeff...you kn hint above)..but, it is still not on the road
I have too much going on to get a chance to go out and put time into that car, my Yukon has been down for almost 7 weeks now due to another pinion gear breaking (fifth time in a year!) and I have not been able to fix it either......I am driving the Chevelle daily right now and it is driving me nuts, no radio, no A/C, no heater, no defroster, but it sure does have a few rattles!
I hope to get time during Thanksgiving vacation to do a little work on the truck and Camaro, but time will tell. Until then......the blue car is just an expensive dust collector!
