Thunderhill is in Willows. Check this recent thread for details. I think it's about an hour north of Sac. If this is something we want to seriously consider, I have a friend who is on a track committee there. I can get information for sure.

We would have to do it on 2 consecutive days so that the people coming from other parts of Cali can make it,or one or the other.

As far as days go, the later the better. February is not that great of weather if I recall. Don't want to get rained on or have it to cold. Then again a hot summer day would suck, so we need something in between, like a nice 70's spring day.

Second the motion.

Questions:

Should I reach out to my buddy at this track for this date?

Here's another thought... if we decide to do this on a weekday, there will be less cost, traffic, etc. Would a Thursday/Friday event be problematic for folks? Time off for me will not be a problem.

Lastly, it's been my experience in past "events" that we should have officers for this. Well, for our "organization". Does that makes sense?

If so, I open the floor for nominations for the "Nor-Cal TGO" Event committee."

Standing by.

Weekdays are not a problem for me either. Having a event committee sounds like a good idea to me as well.

Hell... I can do the Thunderhill stuff. I need information though.

If you want to go to this at Thunderhill in Mid-late May on a weekday... For example:

May 19th and 20th

In 5 months.

If you have any interest in doing this around then drop me a PM. After some time passes and I can gauge the interst, I'll make the call.

PM me if you are interested in going to Thunderhill Raceway with your third gen. Remember... going here and doing the track means wearing a helmet. It's mandatory.

Alright. Zero interest in this so far. Plus, I've changed my mind about wanting to bring my car here. I don't want to risk the significant wear and tear on my vehicle. I don't want to have to take a class on driving just to be able to do a couple circuits if this is a requirment.

I'm backing out of this offer to work with Thunderhill but will keep these dates open.

Ok, I have been slacking on many things. We will be at thunder hill on feb 26th with NCRC. There will be many impala's and I will have my 85z. I dont think I can do a mod day before the event, but I am working on a joint event in april. More later..

I've been trying to put together an event like this for two years now. Participation is the missing ingredient. Nobody wants to step up and donate money.
http://www.gmshootout.org/

Yes I know the forums are hacked, still trying to get them fixed.

It costs about $6000 to rent out Famoso Raceway. I cant even imagine how much Infineon would want for the drag strip and road course.

http://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/list_events

You can do road racing thru NASA on March 11-13 at California Speedway and at Infineon on April 9-10.

Well, I would be willing to step up and donate some money if I knew turnout was going to be worth it. We would need to figure out how many people would want to come, and then how much money per person would be needed to have this event. This way people could decide if they could afford it or not.

As for being a drag race junkie, screw that, turning and racing on a real track would be awesome.

seems like no one else in the west coast is interested in a BIG MEET so I say we just have another NORCAL meet maybe something around a track day or some kind of event or maybe just a BBQ and talk cars

CADILLAC-- does thunderhill have any open track days where we can go around a couple times with out renting the hole track if so how much does it cost

I'd like to have some kind of meet but everyone is talking about renting a track and I don't want to fork out that kinda money.I have no problems driving somewhere.Maybe there is somewhere on the coast to have it?At a beach or something. We could meet in Sac and cruise out.

A few things to keep in mind as far as organizing a BIG MEET :

Although this forum is called "West Coast", members not in central or northern cal rarely participate in this forum. Southern Cal has their own forum, and Oregon and Washington have their own forum. If you want to get the word out this should post on all 3 forums.

Second, by definition most of us are not the type of people who have Ferrari's in the garage and take them out on the weekends to show off, and drive gently in vain attempt to stroke our ego's. We are modifiers, constantly recreating our machines. Most of us, if given the choice would rather spend $200 on another mod, rather than a track day.

I think most people would be all for renting out a track if we could get the entry cost to 1x or 2x that of a test-n-tune session. i.e. $100 and under, and to do that we definately need more than the 25 or so members associated with nor-cal.

Like suggested above, if we want this to happen someone has to step up and get the ball rolling. I can assure you that I'll provide all the support and help I can through the site.

I agree with having another Norcal meet, this includes inviting anyone from CA. Then we could cruise to the coast or something like that. We should just have a big get together and cruise and forget renting a track.

Why doesnt everybody just hit up a test and tune day at the track. If you call ahead of time I'm sure they will give a discounted price for club members. Buy your own way, bring your own beer, that way nobody has to stress over renting out a track or collecting funds. As far as turns you can get just as emberrassed getting out corned by some tree huggin a** hole in a civic on the road as you can on a track. No offense to tree huggin a** holes.

yeah but we need people to show up, people say they'll be there then there MIA. thats what I was thinking at first like if we had like 20+ people Im sure any track would give us some kind of discount
