let that Left Coast knowledge shine

something in the ignition portion of my car is giving me a hell of a time

outta nowhere, the thing wouldn't start, and then stumbled when I tried to give it gas under load (only sometimes). I got it home, and it started stumbling EVERYtime I gave it gas, then I turned it off, and it hasn't started since.

It cranks fine

if i put an aftermarket coil in it, it'll fire up, and run pretty rough and crappy... but i think it's just giving enough juice to jump whatever gap is the bad spot in the system, its not actually fixing it.

plugs and wires seem fine, cap and rotor is pretty new (all of it is)

any funky experiences or ideas? lemme know

Not as funky as your "super crunchy rock guitar"

Even if the plugs/wires/cap/roter look fine, their could be a bad wire, bad plug (broken insulation, carbon fouling, ect), cap could be cracked, or less likely the roter could be bad(worn out)

Check them all out.

SES light flash to the miss? If so, I'd be thinking PU Coil.

Don't know if a IM could cause weak spark...for sure would cause no spark.
