New mod for the busa
well not really

I'll post the story tomarrow. my phone died so I couldn't get a pic of his bike, but mine doesn't look so bad next to his. Both me and the other rider walked away with a couple scratches, bumps, etc

Whoa snap, been there done that dude.
What matters most is that you are ok.
You were probably pulling it down from a 12'o'clocker huh?
You going to fix it up / repaint it?
I want to hear the story already...

Glad you're OK man.
Looks like that helmet came handy.
Bike looks pretty tore up cosmetically.
Did you pull some Superman shiet and go flying off that badboy or what?

Hey man,
Glad your ok.. That really sucks. A paper plate special all torn up. hope you had insurance. The busa is a handfull. I have a 05 LTD busa, looks as if yours was an 06 LTD. The bikes are rockets and deserve respect.
Interested to hear what happened

story time!!!
was on hwy 49 riding with a couple people. Of course I was behind everyone all day, but they would stop and wait for me or someone would ride with me. well came up to a turn(35-40mph) and I leaned in and the bike just wasn't turning. it was slowly making its way to the side of the road. I guess I got into some loose gravel. the rider behind me said the tail of the bike started to fishtail a little . then I guess it just went I fell rolled a couple times and I could feel the bike sliding right behind me then it went over me. after I stoped I could hear the other rider screaming( a couple 4 letter words) took off my helmet and see his bike was about 10 feet from mine. later on I found out my bike hit the inbankment(sp) and spun back into the road and he hit the tail end and took flight. think his bike cartwheeld over mine denting my tank and aking out my windscreen. his bike is totaled, ripped the front fairing off bent the rear rim and cracked the subframe on both sides. both of us are ok and just got a little banged up. I wasn't wearing my gloves, my left hand has what I thought was road rash but my mom looked at it and thinks if from the bike skiding over me, and me putting my hands up(which I remember happening).
I have full coverage on it, so everything will be fixed. just kinda sucks I was just about to get the 600mile service.

dang, you are truly fortunate, terrell. i dunno if i'd recommend a 'busa as a bike to learn on. still, ride long enough and everyone falls down. i wrecked my first bike ('82 Yamaha Maxim XJ650 back in the day) the first day i had it, much the same circumstances. had several subsequent mishaps since then. all i can say is, be careful.
glad you're ok

but this isn't my first bike I took the MSF course back in 03 and have been riding my moms magna750 a firends busa(first real bike I got to ride after the MSF course) and another friends gsxr600 and my 88 gsxr750 I got last year. I think it was a mix of not knowing the road and also still getting used to how the busa rides.

i'm sorry... i assumed you were just learning to ride! be careful man. asphault and other hard things are unforgiving.
**edit**
on a side note, long ago i read somewhere that 90% of all motorcycle fatalities involved riders with less than 10,000 miles experience. strangely, (or not) all my accidents were within my first 10,000 miles.

Kairles,
For starters I'm not dishing you here just a word of advice!!
Glad your both ok. Highway 49 is not an easy road to ride. Bikes can be fixed and or replaced. People can't!! Yea it sucks wiping out, luckly I have not been down.
I got to tell you that 2K miles under your belt is a very very green rider. The busa and the new ZX14 are bikes for the most experianced riders. I have riden off and on for years. While my busa is my first bike, you have to know how to ride within your limits. Once i got my bike allof my friends wanted to go riding. I was like you guys go have fun. I need to know what my limits are. I can't begin to tell you how many people ride outside of their limits. The busa is a big heavy bike. While it does handle great. It is really not meant for the twisties. If you want a bike to run around corners with get a 600 or 750. They are much better suited for that. The only reason I got a busa as a first bike is I am 6'3 and 200lbs. I did not fit on any of the 750's comfortably. I have really long legs and a shorter torso.
The MSF coarse is just the basics. If you want to really learn how to ride take a real motorcycle course. There are lots of them.
Glad your ok and it is all part of the learning curve. I have run my busa at sac raceway before any mods. It went 10.42 @ 143 bone stock. I am sure it would go faster but I was pretty chicken on the launch. After all if I want to go fast I bring the dragster.

busa's are not heavy... atleast not to me(im no light weight
). I was riding well within my limits, when I say I was behind everyone I mean 5-10 min. **** happens some times don't think the bike being a busa had anything to do with it.
Im a "green" rider. I don't ride fast, I know my last name isn't Rossi. I didn't buy the busa because its fast I just think its a damn sexy bike
.
Comp788- you
all bikes are meant to go around twisties, thats why they only put one wheel in the back silly

Kairles,
In regard to street bikes the busa is heavy. The ZX14 is lighter as well as most of the other bikes that are over 1000cc's. I am no expert by far but the articals that I read all talk about the busa being heavy.
The busa is one sexy bike. Almost as sexy as a third gen
but we all know that third gen's are sexy. I purchased my busa because it is a great freeway bike. Most of my riding is long freeway drives. It has great power on the freeway and runs great at crusing speed.
Bike do have a purpose and yes going around turns is one of them. Some are better then others for that purpose. I do not know how much research you did before you got your busa but the busa is one of the last bikes you want to take on the twisties. Every artical that I have ever read says if your looking for a bike for the twisties get a 1000 or down. The RC51 is a great bike for the twisties as are the Ducuti. You can toss them around much easier and get them over farther on the side. The busa has a lot of mass. That is one of the reasons it is so stable at high speeds.

Well if you get something with a huge rear tire like a 'Busa it definitely prefers straight lines.
I miss my 600... but my dirt bike keeps my wheelie addiction in check, plus when I wipe out there isn't some crazy old asian lady trying to run my a$$ over.
Not to mention it flies!

Comp788- I think the intent of my post went right over your head.
I was joking. I know the busa is heavy(580lbs dry). I bought the busa because it is a great looking bike and comfy. I don't plan to take it to a track, be it drag or road. I know I will never be able to keep up with my buddies gixxer 1000 in the twisties, but that doesn't mean I can't go out and have fun taking up the rear. you are right on the research thing, my consisted of "thats ugly", "don't like the colors", "don't like this riding position", "can't afford that one". don't get me wrong, I' did read reviews both online by real people and in mags, and by talking to people on the street. when it came down to it I just wanted a great looking bike and one I could survive riding for hours, and the busa fit the bill to the very last cent

Don't get me wrong that is one sweet bike and looks are really important in what you drive and ride.
The busa is a very comfy bike.
I have taken mine on 300 mile drives in one day and got off like I just went to the supermarket.
The important thing is you and your friend are ok. The rest can be fixed.

Cadillac,
My car has been in storage since about 91. I am the second owner and it is a low milage car. I took it out of storage 3 months ago.
I have been posting quite a bit in the fabrication section on what mods are being done to the Z. The list is extensive and should be done in the next couple of months. On top of all of this I'm getting married on Saturday and going on my honeymoon.
If you up for a trip to San Bruno and want to check it out. Send me a PM and come on over to the shop one evening.

neither, Im going iron block. the plan is to buy a stroker kit not a short/long block. Im also thinking about just buying a complete 5.3(and of course turbo it). that would get me back on the road faster and give me some time with out you guys hounding me to get the Iroc finished. plus it would be atleast $3000 cheaper

Terrell was taking it EXTREMELY easy around the turns. He in no way was pushing his limits. In all honesty I think he just freaked a little bit and didn't lean in hard enough. He was not going fast at all almost like understeer in a car is all that happend. It was mabe a 35 mph lowside. I feel bad for taking you up there now because of this but i don't know why it happend. You were doing great all day not minding us speeding 10 mins ahead. Was more then glad to wait for you and the system we had going was working good to. Shat happens you have ins so no point in stewing on it anymore. Im glad you and nathan are ok and hopefully everything works out. If it makes you feel better my peg won't go all the way down after scraping them so much lol so I have to ride in the rain like a fawking retard with one leg higher up.
Let me know when its all back together so we can go riding again.
Let me know when its all back together so we can go riding again. glad you're ok, heard it before but might as well hear it again, way too much of a bike to start on, hell chances are you would never be able to ride a newer 600 to it's potential, same goes with 99.9 percent of the rest of the population on bikes. These things get repetative tho and you already have it, full coverage so itll be fixed or youll have another one so no need for me to say anymore about what bike you should get or shouldn't. Best advice I can give ya is target fixation is not your friend, look through turns, if you don't think you can make a turn lean it a lil harder and ull probably make it. Brake in a turn and the bike will stand up and you will go off the road. DO NOT BRAKE IN A TURN. Ride your own pace and keep the rubber side down...least one of em
. Stay safe and once again glad you're ok. Take it easy.

Yea he was not riding hard at ALL. He just likes the busa cuzz its comfy and looks sick but does not push or plan to push it hard at all. He was riding very good that day.
Not saying he was or wasn't, but to say he doesnt plan to push it is a load of BS and you know it. Nobody buys a sport bike to get good miles tot he gallon I dont care what they say.

So I guess you guys were riding with him then and not me ever huh wow. I don't think you understand HE WOULD NOT GO OVER 100 on the freeway no matter how fast I was going. So everyone that buys something fast pushes huh wow. I bet it could have had a 600cc motor and he would have still bought it.

That's just my personal opinion and personal love affair with wheelies talking.
I didn't say "everyone", don't get me wrong. Kudos to him for not wanting to be your typical street squid.
