Mechanic with a dyno in the Sac. area.

I am getting my license on the 18th and I will be needing to have a chip burned for my 88 firebird (mods are in the sig). It is modified and it really needs a chip burned to get it up to standards. If anyone knows any good mechanic, please tell me their name and phone #. Thanks, Aaron

There are plenty of mechanics in Sacramento with Dynos, but none that can burn you a chip for your car.

I was going to ask how did you get a car with all those mods and only 15 years old, but I just read the other thread about your dad.

You might have a better chance in buying the equipment and learning how to burn a chip yourself.

I have all the equipment to burn one. I told my dad I would take the time to burn one, but he says I will mess it up some how. Probable right though...So you want to know how I got the car?

Okay...I had an old 1970 Lemans that I bought for $500. So I decided it was too much work and I was getting my license soon. Since The firebird got all messed up (click link @ bottom to see) my dad didn't have time for it and wanted to sell it to fix up the house. So I sold my car for 1200 to a guy in IL. So I was looking for an old car because my dad wasn't doing anything about The firebird, so I figured he would keep it. Well my dad got serious about parting it out, and I knew he didn't REALLY want to sell it, he just had other priorities. So I told him I would buy it. He said 3500. Well, I had 1200, and I needed 2500. Well my aunt passed away when I was very very young and left me some money for college. Well, My dad knows I want to be a mechanic and I will most likely not go to college, so he said I could have it now. So that is how I got the car.

Well, we got the car smogged for the fist time since 2004 (got a shiny 2008 sticker). Well, I drove it for the first time today with my learners permit. Lets say I had some fun with my dad. All I need to do is get a chip burned, put in new vacumn lines, fix blicker purge thing, and seal the super ram better.

I am a very good driver. i was going the speed limit and my dad was making fun of me because I didn't "punch" it correctly the first time. I let him take it out for a drive. He was claming he did a burnout while going in a straight line going 30mph.

Yep...2 generations. And we both like the same car! I told him he can drive it when ever he wants. Sometimes I encourage him to drive it because I secretly know he wants to.

Great to hear about a father/son 3rd gen loving combination.

You can always try the mailorder chips to get a base, much better than the Hyperjunk you have in there.
Check out pcmforless or lsracing.

Hope to see you 2 at a gtg this year.

No rough estimate needed, it tells you right on the sites based on your make/model.
Keep in mind these tunes are not precise by any means without actually seeing what your car needs, but you can get one, dyno and have the tuner redo it to fine tune a little better.

Price: $200 + shipping

I don't recall saying that you would mess the chip up Aaron. I was hoping that we could view the BIN file from a fellow thirdgener with similar mods and get a "headstart". Without a Dyno or Drag Strip to measure performance it's hard to get beyond the basic chip settings, i.e., injector constants, fan temp, vats disable, etc., and start dealing with the fuel and timing settings which will really get results.

I definately don't want to discourage you from learning how to program since that's the solution to so many TPI issues.

I'll set you up at home with the software and programmer and you can enjoy!!!!

Dad

Dad (martyr),

I can't believe you let the boy use his college money for the car.

Oh wait... we're talking about a Third gen, right?

Excellent.
