A/C Delete complete!

I got the old A/C unit off the firewall(thanks TraviZ)and got the used heater blower box on. It's the cleanest part of my engine bay, lol. My poor car is filthy. I'll try to upload the pics...

Looks sweet. I'm seriously debating deleting the smog (except the cats) and my a/c.

Is there a valve cover in there somewhere? Oh yeah, you were doing headers. So, how do you like'em? Notice a difference?

I know, these engine bays are full of "stuff". I pan on relocating the battery to the rear where the spare/jack was. I'm going to use the Optima gel style. I will also steal my horn for my '54 project. Whatever it takes to lose wieght up front. The headers did net me a wieght loss as well as a few HP. It's difficult to tell how much as I lost most of the A/C at that time. Tommoro I'll do the horn and the light wieght (7.5lb)starter. Wish me luck getting under her. More cramped space!

Dave from www.thirdgenusa.com has them for sale in used condition. Mine was $85 or $90 plus shipping. Works great. I sanded/primed/painted it and installed in in 2 hours.

Re: A/C Delete complete!

sorry to bring back an older post but I was wondering how hard of a job it is to remove the old a/c box and install the a/c delete one. I figured it would be nearly impossible to get the bottom bolts out without having to remove the inner fender well or the passenger side header. Am I wrong or is there some trick to it??

Re: A/C Delete complete!

ahh that's some good info to know, glad to see GM put some thought into easy removal of the a/c system without removing a 1/4 of your car to do so. Thanks for the reply...

I like the headers and the cat is gone too! I did notice a difference, but I need to replace the paper "Mr.Gasket co." gaskets with the copper ones I bought, but I might wait for the new heads/motor/trans. when I finish my '54. Not sure yet. I burn 1-2 qts. between changes and if I only do the top end, with 160k miles one the car, I'm sure the bottom will go. So for now, this is my DD and when the '54 is done, the IROC will be next. Just dumped $$$ into the wife's Tahoe(rebuilt trans/4.10 rear w/posi/Baer disc brakes on all 4 corners) last year, so the IROC is next!
