Re: sac or infenion
nice , i want to do headers on my car but just looking at the passanger side makes me shy away from them. i really didnt think porting the heads on a l98 is worth the trouble thinking you can get some aftermarket ones rather cheap. right now sense it seems not to many people want to help tune i probly gonna have to throw down the 400 dollars and get the damm thing dyno tuned

Re: sac or infenion
i havent been to sac yet but i know the only reason i got a good launch at infenion is because i was first after all the pro street cars and the rubber was still smoking on the track when i launched. a lot of the tuners here like sac.

Re: sac or infenion
I've been going to Infinion's Wed evening drags for a year now; have even nailed two 4th place finishes. It's a great track, BUT........ you need to have your butt in line by 3pm or you can end up taking an hour to go through tech. There can be 200-300 in the street class alone. Last week I got there early, and only managed to get in two runs before they started to pull official runs; plus there was a building headwind and it was impossible to get an accurate dial in time with a couple changes I had made.
Other times, the staff is on the ball and I'll get 5 pre runs before it's time to pull out the white shoe polish.
Usually there arn't any 3rd gen's out there, but lots of Mustangers.
One other issue with the track, is that early in the season there are huge temperature changes between 4pm (97 degrees), and by 7ish, it can be in the 50's and your tyres go up in smoke.
$25 to race, $20 to watch. /and if yer a NASCAR fan, there's nothing like parking in the pit of your favorite driver and then driving on parts of the road coarse.... Nitro

Re: sac or infenion
Hey Chevy Boi, Regarding your L98 heads; Are you able to do the basic head porting yourself????? Allegedly the heads clean up fairly well, but if one is to go to all the trouble to pull them off and can afford it, all these new aluminum heads are a dream! You probably already know that machine shops are starting to charge almost as much to port iron heads as the cost of purchasing a set of low price aluminums and the Vortec's you mentioned are allegedly the best bang for the buck around for budget builds.
I got REALLY LUCKY and have a machinist friend who was willing to do his magic on a set of World Products performance units that I found complete for only about $450 bucks (he's a race car drivetrain machinist specialist and currently doing up a ZZ4 platform for me). Don't mean to give any unasked for comments, nor am I any type of engine expert, but since we're all trying to knock off the same mustangs at Sac & Sear's Point; thought I should offer the info up just in case.... Nitro
Oh, are you adding the 3 inch exhaust, or just adding cutouts to an already existing exhaust set-up? I just had a talk with a friend of mine who's an executive at Flowmaster; When I shared with him that I had a full 3" exhuast on my IROC he strongly suggested I dump it ASAP for a smaller pipe. It seems that for those of us who are trying to build up the low RPM torque/horsepower on the TPI systems, three inch piping robs torque. I guess the larger pipes work better for carberator and high RPM engine's.

Re: sac or infenion
$400 seems to be a pretty good price for now. I've heard of head work on iron heads as high as $1500! I can see what you're talking about with to much torque at the starting line. What rear end gears are you running? I just put in 3.27's but my new 700R4 spins the tyres going into 2nd with the completely shot original L98 and am hoping I don't end up in a great big pile of smoke when the new engine finally goes in. Maybe I should keep my 3 inch till I see what the baselines end up at.

Re: sac or infenion
chevy boi, I'm going to assume that's in a 9-bolt rear????? I just changed my 2.77 to the 3.27 set-up. I noticed that my around town fuel mileage went way-way up after that. I probably won't have it 1/4 mile ready till next season. I'm hoping it'll be as consistant as the G-35 I'm running now which stays: plus or minus 3-tenths of a second.
For those of you who run Sacto track; do you get many rental cars running your bracket races??? We had a guy last season who kept showing up in Enterprise cars. Oddly, one of the corporate guru's was invited to talk to someone at Infinion Corporate and saw one of his rental cars staging and threw a major fit! Nobody knows what the legal situation is, but the track officials were gossiping that he's been banned on Enterprise's computer system for life! Nitro

think you have a 3.27. my Iroc had 3.23 and it would cruise about 2k-ish rpm at 70mph. my formula has 2.73's at 80mph im spinning at about 2k-rpm
