350 build machine shop?

i just got a used complete L98 motor and i want to start taking it apart rebuilding it. I would like the block cleaned painted and looked over. Does anybody know a decent machine shop that could do that. Also should i have the bottom end redone completely or just have it checked out and maybe get new pistons? Im going to be going with the zz4 cam as well

Re: 350 build machine shop?

Gotta give us more info on the motor. How many miles does it have? What year is it? Was it in running condition when pulled out? You can do a leak down test. If leak down test shows good numbers then short block should be good. If it has 60k+ miles, i would get the heads freshen up. The valve seals tend to go bad and while you're at it replace injector as well if they are stock. Buy the Ford SVO injectors.

Matters where you go and what exactly you want done.

If you want just machine work on the block, I have got cheap as $500.

If you want a full rebuild of your motor, break out the checkbook, $1500+.

oh sorry for the lack of info. The engine was from a 92 z28 with 105 000 miles. the guy got a lt-1 and swaped it. He said the engine was working perfectly fine and pulled strong. I bought everything for 450 $. I want to make 300 hp at the wheels if posible. And i would like to have a zz4 cam. which means head work correct? other then that im not to sure what else i should do.
