Header gaskets....
I just finished replacing the paper "Mr.Gasket" header gaskets (on my CA SMOG legal headers, for those who care I have a CARB#) as seen below:

Just mainly an excuse to show off a pic of my 3 year old helper wearing who's sporting my "saftey" glasses. He likes to "Help" me, lol.

I used a 100% copper gasket and wrapped my header bolts with a little teflon tape. An older hot rodder gave me that tip to help keep the bolts from backing out. We'll see...

Yeah Daniel, those paper gaskets are crap.
You sure those are safety glasses they look like Wayfarers to me...
Best wishes to you and the little mechanic

Re: Header gaskets....
Yeah, they are my old Ray-Bans. He likes to mimic me, so when I was grinding the Y pipe joint to find the pin hole in the weld, he put them on so he could be underneath the car with me. I can't wait to fire up the IROC and not hear any exhaust leaks. Anyone ever run a gasket that was 100% copper before? I got them at a local custom header shop here in town:
http://www.lemonsheaders.com/
I was told they will never break down. They were $50.00, but copper's expensive these days.

Re: Header gaskets....
Hey Daniel, Sorry for not returning your call, but I will answer your questions now.
I ran pure copper gaskets, and They work excellent. Good investment if you plan to leave your headers on longterm.
And for header bolts, Get some with lockwashers, they help keep them from backing out as much, I would still check after a good heatup cool down cycle to make sure they are torqued. Depending on your header clearance, Stick with 6-point bolts. I bought some 12 points for my headers and I regret it because I can't fit a socket over every one and have you ever tried tightening a 12 point nut/bolt with a open-ended wrench? hah.
Silly me
