I bought my chick a firebird (because I secretly want to drive one)

I bought one for my girl today, a 91 white firebird transam GTA. its the one steve posted up from craigslist.

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/1010821410.html

its very nice in person, paint is still very shiny, little interior wear. it is the 350 TPI with the dual cat option I havnt checked gearing yet, feels a little lackluster on the highway, wont be suprised if its 2.77's

you can expect to see it at the next thirdgen meet.

Nice 'bird, looks like a lot of fun. Kinda funny the only 'bird in my collection is the '94 Formula that actually belongs to my wife.

My '67 begs to differ!

As an owner of both I personally have love for every F-Body, even 4th gens

That is a really nice looking GTA bro, good score and I bet she is thrilled! Hope to see you both at the next meet

Re: firebirds are for chicks.

I was thinking of buying it too but didn't really want another one in my driveway. On the bright side though, the previous owner better pay me his balance. He owes me money for work I did on this car.

Travis,
Mike gave me a call and he's suppose to pay me tomorrow. We'll see or else I'll come get the rest of the stereo.

If you tried to come get the stereo out of my girl's car that I just bought her, you would be shot.

Sounds to me like this "Mike" owes you $$$, not Jessica owing you a stereo

Re: firebirds are for chicks.

More info before you start shooting by-stander. I have the faceplate and the subwooper of this car. The base is going back to the previous owner. If the plan doesn't come through then I'll get the stereo and amp from Travis........ okay. Put your gun down, hands in your head and walk backwards

Did Travis know about this before buying it? If not It shouldn't Travis's problem the previous owner screwed you.

you are right, I ran the RPO, its 3.23's not 2.73's like I thought.

I had no clue of the previous relationship the owner and benny had before purchase, pretty small world, at least I know the right mechanic took care of it.

Benny confirmed they are yellow top SVO injectors and new dual cats recently installed. i bought a nice crapload of tune up parts, havnt gone through the records of previous work but it doesnt hurt to do it all with a fresh purchase.
I think the fuel pump is the cause of the stumble and lackluster acceleration. I am going to spend a few days swapping it out for her after the tuneup. wish me luck.

I wonder if I can get the girl to be a member here now.. maybe not a good idea.

The fact of the lackluster performance may be the little detail that you do not have a ****ing huge huffier under the hood

91 GTA? Damn you! That's a rare bird. I don't care what you say about who drives it.

Please don't let the gal screw it up. We're talking something like 1 of 350 or something like that.

Re: firebirds are for chicks.

'92's are the rare ones, ~300.

'91's were in the 2,500 range.

'90 around 1,000.

'89 around 9,000.

You get the idea.

I loved my 79, it was my 1st car. It had a 403 though but was still sweet. I would like a 70-73 or 77-79 again someday.

The 403 has enough power to get you around for now. I think the torque rating is 385. Those engines are notorious for cracking between the water jackets though.

All 90-92 350 TPI's have the G92 option with dual cats and 3.23 10-bolt rear end. (yes there are some 3.27 9-bolts in 1990 cars, left over from the '89 model year).

Congrats on the purchase!

The fuel pump is definitely need to be replaced. Pressure was really low lat time I check. We'll talk about your new car next time you come over at the shop. The fuel filter on it is new. You don't need to replace it.

BTW, please hang on to the stereo. Don't give it back yet.

kahless, PM sent.

Insulting other members here is not permitted, even though technically UnderCover89TBI's comment was insulting and incorrect and so is the title of this thread.

I've changed it to a more suitable title.

Thanks for playing nice.

You were just joking huh? The topic about girls driving birds well alot of females do drive birds thats ok but when u joke about birds being compared to mustangs come on man. I should start joking about impaired people in wheel chairs thats funny right? Or maybe child molesters thats funny. Honestly though i HATE mustangs with a passion always have and always will. So when u make a commet about birds compaired to stangs i got a little upset. Now as for you being the bigger person I doubt it, i just have ***** and speak my mind. And as for no sence of humor well Hows this for ya How many douches does it take to screw up a perfectly good thread? Just one lolBut all bets aside i do apoligize for calling you names! And i am not implying that you are the douche who screwed up this thread so please dont take offense. I want to be friends.

3rdbird, I am loving those pics! That 'bird is georgous. Is this a car I could see when I finally get to come down and see your shop? If not I would be ecstatic to see it at a gtg one of these times, even though it isn't a third-gen. But at least I wouldn't be the only 2nd gen there.

Thanks Fryer, by the next time you see the car, it will be a 77, not a 79.

It needs new carpet, seats, & a new paint job. I do have a new TH400 ready to go in soon.

3-4 thousand bucks later it will be a good daily driver.
