On the road again...

About a month ago now, I slipped in a custom ground LT1 cam with some new retrofit roller lifters. Well, one of the lifters was defective and the rivet holding the link bar fell out causing the lifters to turn in their bores. Resulting damage, 1 camshaft and 2 lifters. Only ran for about an hour with no drive time. Fast forward to yesterday, I get my replacement lifters and a re-ground camshaft from Lunati who took care of the parts free of charge. Stick'em in the engine and get everything back together, fired up on the first couple of rotations

I've also installed a wideband O2 to figure out a running problem it's had for a while now. Gauge is showing 13.5 at idle 12.2 low speed cruise and extremely rich to the point of making a lot of noise and slowing down when WOT or up in the upper rpm range. Going to drop the jets down, see what that does then mess with the air bleeds a bit more. Just glad it's running again

Re: On the road again...

Just about 1 month exact After pulling the damaged parts out, I didn't feel like doing much to it for a week. Finally called up Lunati, they said to ship them the old parts. They had everything for a week plus the 2 weeks total for shipping stuff back and forth. Looking for maybe 11.50's on the motor now instead of 11.80's, just have to get things running well again.

Re: On the road again...

Glad you got it running again. It's good thing also Lunati didn't give you a hard time. Hope to meet you at the track soon and have a grudge race.
I'm trying to get into high 10's without any power adder. I need to get a good wideband and datalog more accurately. I will also need to plumb an external fuel pump and weld inlets and outlet in the fuel rail. Definitely start the project next week. There's few more parts need to be installed but it a "secret " for now.

Re: On the road again...

Yup, can't wait to run it at the track again but as of right now, it's not running right. Leaned it way out just to see what it would do on the A/F gauge, saw numbers in the 15's and even 20's. Switched out all the air bleeds and idle feed restrictors back to stock plus put it back to stock jetting. Much better numbers but now it's on the rich side again. At least I can go near full throttle before it starts breaking up.

Bennie, one of these days I'll get down there again. The last time I broke a pushrod and still ran a 12.40 something lol That's when the car was running 12.30's or so up at Redding. Humm secret parts eh? I might have to do that too Whenever I do get down your way again, it'll have to be on a Saturday, can't make it on the weekday races.
