Finally some performance mods! :)
So me & Traviz stumbled upon a 85 L69 motor with factory rear disc brakes and posi with verified 3:73's! Mine has 2:73's with disc ONLY in the FRONT, drums in rear, and no posi. So freaking major score. Plus the guy charged us for a basic drum set up, got it for $111 inlcluding the core charge, and there is only a $15 core charge to bring back my old one.
Little beat up at first look. But we verified the posi work perfect, opended it up and she looks perfect. Just going to do a complete flush and service. The new calipers and rotors, pads etc. We even got the sway bar and all hard line brake lines on the rear end and e break brackets. Just will need new cables and a new stainless steel break hose. All in all way cheaper then converting mine! Can't wait, can't promise a timeline when she will be in. But the performance gains are going to be off the hook

No, drums stock. But now will have factory disc cause you could get them with 3:73's and disc on the 84-85 birds and camaros only, but don't quote me on that. Made that correction in the original post.

Great score bud.. I was supposed to head out the yard today to find a 9 bolt I could ank the carrier out of. But never got out there. Way to Go. The new gears and rotors in the back should feel lots better.

Oh ya, my 84 had the same setup, had the L69 motor too. Loved that car, miss it too
Re: Finally some performance mods! :)
Will that is pretty rare to find one with 3:73 should run good at the track! But that great gas mileage on the freeway will be gone. Maybe you should trade someone (Kevin) that has 3:23 gears?

Lol, thanks but no thanks. I will love my gears, miss them and the disc and posi so much! Gas mileage will go down for sure on hiway but I really don't care much. Like TraviZ said, I think it will actually on hit around 2300, which is still nothing if you think about it.
