Came Up Pretty Nice at U Steal It!!
So yesterday I went to You Yank It to do some scouting for todays outting.. I found an 87 GTA with a 9bolt and some very clean taillights. I decided my tails could be replaced.. u will see why in the pics below. I was happy about the 9bolt because I am running a 2.77 currently and in the 9bolts in order to go to a higher(or lower, im not sure how that goes) gear from a 2.77 you need to upgrade from a 2 series carrier to a 3 series. So I yanked the carrier out. The gears in it were a 3.27, but I didnt have the socket with me for the nut that held the gears on the yolk. But Im thinkin I wanna run a 3.45 anyway. It was a great score because 9bolt.com wanted 385 plus 70 to ship one of theres. I got this one for 70 bucks plus an $8 core charge.
Anyway.. heres the goods...

Then these are the old tails....

These are the new ones.. a little pitted but Im sure I could smooth all that out....

Hope you checked the cone clearance. I am one of the few people on here to rebuild and shim their 9 bolt, and it wore out again... im going 10 bolt asap. I had 3.45 9 bolt gears and carrier that I dumped for under $100...

How did you like that gear setup? I hope Im happy with it. I am not doing this swap myself, too much can go wrong and I have never really dug into a rear like this before. So I will make sure everything is done in overhaul fashion.

what up- I go to the yards all the time.I woulda bagged the whole rearend they can be had down here for 180. thing is havent seen one in quite a while. I have two in stock for personal consumption. I just saw a 87 ta yesterdat 5-0 tpi. Ilook in the hatch and theres this aluminum 10 spoke wheel staring at me the space saver. this thing has never been touched.even the jack never touched. Im thinkin 13 bucks I go to the board it says inflatable tire 12.99. this thing was shiny if u ever seen this one bitch charges me for an aluminum wheel we argue she says leave it if u dont like it. its all i could do to contain myself then she carges me seperate for the tire on the rim, obviously she works on commision Istill won out. I also took my f-body bose deck and laughed at her. have a good one late
