i've decided to not change my throttle body til after i change the torque converter and run it down the track to see what I gained.
then i will change throttle body so probably around march, so that'll be a spring project.
still gotta do the shifter and instrument cluster, torque converter, driveline, and hoping to put new valve seals.

Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
new front seats. cant decide on corbeaus, the one jim sells the yonaka samauri seats, or a few others. i really want the yonaka ones in black cloth, problem is, i dont see anyone using them on this site witht he same interior setup i have. i have a stock 3rd gen center console.. and the only person i can find that has installed these exact yonaka samauri seats runs a 4th gen center console in his car.. which appears to be skinnier. im really just worried if they will fit in .. because ill make up the brackets to mount them.. im concerned with the width fitment....between the center console and the lower seat belt mount by the door. thats really all i ahve to work out. any input?
i was going to get new rims too. but with a wedding honeymoon and other expenses this year...the rims will have to wait...again

Well goodlooking car man. I dont have any idea about any of those seats or fitment issues with them seats. If you wanna post pics I will tell you which ones I like best! haha.
Damn this forum is getting dead again. I guess I have to think of another thread to start....

I'm going to try to attack this start up and stalling problem
. Other than that new interior/original paint. Also going to install a Mini Ram setup or maybe the Holley setup does anyone have input on either of those setups for the TPI. Also later on get my computer modified for all the mods.

My project is to swap out virtually everything from my 88 bird, which started out as a 2.8 5 spd,and is currently a 5.7 TPI 5spd. Its a white base 88, and im getting an 87 GTA in february. Im gonna have to swap EVERYTHING over, steering column even, but man, i cant wait. The GTA has no motor/trans, no interior, no wiring, etc. Its basically a bare bones body roller. I wish I could get it NOW!

Good stuff. Anyone else have mid winter updates on their projects?
Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
Nope, lol.
I parked my 91 Bird two weeks ago (just before we got NAILED with snow) and I haven't moved it since. Now it sits on the side of the road, under about 6 inches of snow.
I'll start and run and drive under it's own power but cripes with all this snow/salt/sludge everywhere what's the point?

Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
Swapped out my underdrive pulleys in favor of the stockers. Bad decision in the first place but a learning experience I suppose. Charging system is so much more stable at idle. Other than that, nothing really planned. I had wanted to remove my top end and have it powdercoated because the engine enamel doesn't hold up well to chemicals. But I might wait, not sure. Hard to take it off the road when we're having clear skies and mid 60's as of late. If the weather turns to **** here in the next few weeks I might pull the trigger.

Yeah I bought the underdrive pulleys. I ended up ordering a smaller alternator pulley. So the crank pulley is smaller and lighter, water pump pulley is different but the alternator pulley is a lot smaller so I could get some of my idle charging back. Im happy with it.

so my update to my thread. I installed my torque converter finally. Next weekend is the shifter and I got new wheels which I will install next week also. Then after that it is time for my instrument cluster. I will also be recieving my new bored out manifold to fit the holley tbi unit I purchased last year that will go on after my first trip to the dragstrip with the new converter installed.

yes slowly but surely. hence I have not been scouring craigslist or the for sale section here for good deals because I cant afford anymore good deals!
But for anyone who cares I saw a 4th gen camaro with nice cloth grey two tone seats no rips at the stockton pick n pull. Also a couple pairs of nice t tops. And some camaro tail lights. I was returning something and couldnt help but look around a little...haha.

To revive my thread. I finally got my BM shifter installed on saturday. Im going to hold off on the gauges for a little while. Im having a lil gremlin in my car not running right all the time. Still plan on doing the intake and holley tbi install before the end of april. Might go to the track early april. my problem is only at idle so I dont mind going racing still. Gonna order some tires soon. BTW I love my BM shifter, but thier directions for installing arent the greatest!

Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
Well it looks good. But mostly you can put it into low and as you manually shift up. you just slap it forward and you wont miss shift and go into 3rd from 1st..est..at first it is a tad tight. but it is getting a little looser as I do it. When I go drag racing I dont put it into D and take off. I start at low, hold until my desired rpm, then slap 2nd, hold, then slap into 3rd. I have misshifted doing that with the stock shifter. And this also has a reverse lockout so you cannot shift into Reverse on accident. You have to pull up a lever to do it. Next time we meet up you can take it out and see how you like it

Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
You have a problem with taking a TBI car around the block?
Re: Since our forum has been dead. Post your winter thirdgen project plans.
I have a couple of projects to work on this winter. First, installing a new rear end in my IROC. The previous owners of the car installed a 9-bolt rear with 3.70 gears probably from an 86-87 Firebird, but they drove it for months with a badly leaking pinion seal....so, they trashed the gears and pinion bearings so badly that if you take most of the weight off of the back of the car, the pinion pulls away from the ring gear enough to disengage itself. Plus, the posi unit was toast. Fortunately, I scored a low mileage 9 bolt with a good posi and 3.23 gears from a guy in Fresno, so now I'm putting that in this week.
Then, I'll probably be installing a new front nose and rear spoiler with the 3rd brake light (mine has the older one). Might even manage to get it painted next summer.
Then, I'll probably be installing a new front nose and rear spoiler with the 3rd brake light (mine has the older one). Might even manage to get it painted next summer.
OK, update on the project. Got the new rear end installed, drove it about a mile and discovered that it has a bad pinion bearing. I don't have the experience or money to rebuild it right now, so I am headed down to Pick n Pull tomorrow to grab another diff (this time a 10 bolt) and chuck it in the car while waiting to rebuild the other one. Also spent about 2 hours going through the dash tightening up everything, so no more dash rattles. Next is a complete tune up. Still need to install my new nose section and find a pair of doors with good hinges.
the great part is that my car escaped being damaged by our freaky snowstorm. One of our trees dropped a huge branch and missed the car by about an inch, so it still survives to be a project.
