Looking good joey. So on that piece you cut out of the frame. Do you leave it open like that or do you recess some metal back into it and weld it up?

Oh yeah bro. I cant even imagine how much more expensive she will be once she gets older. Thats why im doing things right now while she is still cheap and small. Plus even with the tubular k-member, i dont think my Air bags would work. because i would want to get the tubular a-arms too. But im happy with what i got. Saves some money

Re: Project Winter Storm
Here is a little update. I was able to identify all the A/C wiring. Found some errors i did when i first did the LS1 install. All fixed now. Got to head over to pick and pull to find some connectors and brake line. Might go tomorrow. I test fitted the A/C air box. Fits perfect. I need to modify the wire harness but i got a good idea on how im going to do it. Its all going pretty smooth but i know im going to run into some fitment problems once i get the engine ready to install. Also i replaced the oil pan gasket. While it was off i was able to see the cylinder walls and man!! they look perfect. So does the valve train. Very clean. Im pleased with my oil changes
Here are some progress pics. Still need to finish up the air box and paint.

Re: Project Winter Storm
So the wiring is almost done. I needed to put the motor back in with the L/T headers to see where the harness would be and what not. But its coming along pretty sweet. The engine fits with the modified A/C box. Still need some trimming for the coil packs. Nothing a dremel cant handle. So far so good:

Re: Project Winter Storm
From what i read on LS1 tech. Its not bad at all, but then again they have a newer car. But i figure after all the upgrades ive done it should be the same. I dont have a crazy cam. But we will see. Test run, then if i dont like it, go back to rubber cause ive heard bad stories about fitting a poly on a LSx block

yup nothing like a pulling a motor on a sunday afternoon...especially when it wont turn over and you gotta pull the torque converter with it caus you cant get flexplate bolts.
Oh so fun. Haha. I was mainly playing shop foreman and step in when they encountered problems! haha.
The wing is looking good for sure. Needs to do finishing work to it, but will look great when all done.

Joey...now I know why I never saw your thread! Its in the NorCal section!
Car is looking good! Nice work on the A/C box. Kept it pretty close to mine...and you might have sealed yours up better. A word of advice... Line the inside of the box with some foil and foil tape...or any good insulation. Mostly the side near the headers. It droped my A/C temps quite a bit. Also...getting T-top shades helped a ton too. Even dark tinted glass was letting the inside heat up. For your drier...you can use a stock 4th gen bracket to mount that if you have one or have acess to one. It will bolt right to the chassis and hold the drier nicely.
Im not sure Ide worry too much about solid mounts. The LS1 has a revised firing order partially to help with vibes..amoungst other things. They run pretty smooth, even with bigger cams. Mine is on poly mounts though, and it doesnt move much at all. I watched it while it was on the dyno to see if it torqued much...and it hardly moved. Poly on both motor mounts as well as trans mount. The only issue I had was with oil pan clearnace. Because it was like...non-existent haha. I could hardly get cardboard between the pan and k-member. Like...heavy paper, not box type cardboard. So I notched for that as well, and I suggest you notch if you need to before getting it all back together. Try to mock it up with the trans and all once before your final install.
Keep up the good work!
J.

Re: Project Winter Storm
Yeah I used some foil tape and some insulation type foam with a sticky back. I tried several variations... Just go to lowes or home depot and check what they have. Here's what it looks like.

That outer most layer is fiberglass reinforced wrap with a sticky side and aluminum foil on the other. I think I got it from PACE or Summit or something.
Does your dad think #8 will hit during acceleration or something? I mean...with solids you wont be hitting much of anything. I fyou just move it slightly like I said it will be PLENTY fine. You wouldnt have to move it as much as I did...since I was just using what I had laying around as opposed to making my own piece. And also because Im not running solids.
Here is a HORRIBLE zoom in on the only picture I found that shows the coil.
You can JUST make out that the boot on the coil is up, just about level with the split in the HVAC box for the lid.

Dont forget...since its mounted at an angle, as it moves up, its moving over too. So it doesnt take much.
