Need information
I dunno if any of you remember me asking a while back what everyone thought about making a site where you could find the owner of another thirdgen if you saw it on the road. Well, i'm now single and bored, so i wanna try to make it happen, but i need some information just to get started.
I'm considering two formats:
Map based: your shown a map of illinois and indiana counties and you pick a county and are shown a list of thirdgens on record.
Search based: this is the format i'm leaning toward cuz it's less of a pain in the ***, you pick illinois or indiana or both, then you pick the car's color, make, model, etc, and get a list of possible cars. I don't claim to know everything, but i think there could be a deal to sort the results based on how close they are to the area you picked.
so i need to know if you guys think this is a good idea or if i'm wasting my time, i need input on what format, and i need information about you guys and your cars, the more the better, i know not everyone wants to give out their name and address and all for privacy reasons...but atleast car makes, models, years, colors, your partial name, county you live in, town/city. And if possible information about cars around you that have owners that aren't on TGO. I know you all know people like that, there are like 10 thirdgens in the little town i live in...so...lets try to get some information together and see if this is gonna be do-able or not...
anybody that thinks they can help would be appreciated...and if you put any info here, try to keep it in about the same format so it doesn't have to be reorganized and we don't have to waste time...

Sounds like you need to setup a SQL database of some kind. That would be the easiest way, too bad I don't know jack about SQL databases.

It would be a neat idea, but in no way would we even touch half the cars we see.
Do it by state, then break down to county or somethign like that. they have something like this at gnttype.org where it breaks out memebers by state, so u might want to take a look..
Its only gonnna work if people have full info on the cars and their locqation
