Its up and working great, though I need to adjust a TV a little more. It doesn't have the ratching type that the stock GM ones have. So I can't do the autoadjust method.

It looks like you got your Bimmer then. Do you miss your Thirdgen already?

Just razzing you, though I don't know if I'd get rid of my Thirdgen for another car right now. It hasn't given me enough hassles.

Thanks for the pump and TC though, that REALLY helped me out as I was able to save a TON of cash. I've got money in the bank saving for a NICE rebuilt kit + shift kit + cooler. I had some bills come down on me and well, there went my money! So no rebuilt kit, and it looked GOOD. Woulda been a great thing. Oh well.

The camaro is still in the shop, haven't sold it yet, but i am gonna miss it...no prob at all on the tc and pump, if you need anything else, don't hesitate to pm me and i'll see what's layin around, i'm not gonna be a stranger.

Sad to say, the funs over.

I have no idea what happend. The TV cable was adjusted properly, the clutch packs were good too!

But I lost 4th gear tonight, and it doesn't want to shift until about 2,500rpms. It was getting progressivly worse as time went on.

I'm devastated, I am in the process of applying for a loan, I don't have enough credit to charge a $1000 rebuild to my cards nor do I want to with the rates on them.

So, I'm applying for a loan to get professionally rebuilt tranny with a warrenty done. I'm tired of this game, I don't have ANY idea what to do next.

Sorry to hear about the bad break again Bill :-(

I been there and done that..................sucks having to shell out and just get it done and over with....

But when it comes to some things it just cant be avoided :-(

One way or another your toy will see the lite of day again and make it out onto the road...

I'll try and do a locate thru friends and resources and see if i can find u an actual good trans

If u get yours rebuilt make sure the core u use is from a mid 87 up trans and the right one for your application (ie. 350 tpi)

Also dont be afraid to ask if u can dump your cores on them to save yourself a few $$$$ in return

I've got a 89' 350 TPI trans, the one I bought from Brandon. I think it would make a GREAT core for a rebuild + shiftkit.

This is what I'm looking at.

87+ 700r4:
Gasket kit with Fibre Pan Gasket
Teflon Ring/Seal Kit
2 Sealed Power No Break Pump Rings
Pump Seal Retainer - Prevents Front Pump Seal Blowout
Washer Kit
Bushing Kit
Filter
29 Element Heavy Duty Input Sprag
Rear Sprag - .150" Wider
Blue Plate Frictions
    Kolene Steels
    High Performance Extra Wide Band
    TransGo Shift kit.

Man, when it rains...it pours. I hope things start working out better for you Bill. Someone on these boards has to have some experience rebuilding a trans for you. Maybe they'd be willing to help you out and that'd save some $$$$. I know of a few trans shops that I've dealt with in the past which were reasonable at the time. If interested...just ask. Good luck.

LMAO!!! We found out what was wrong!!!

The gasket ring on the servo got pinched!!! We took a spare I had laying around, (hey, with 2 trannies to choose from you got parts galore) and put it in there.

A little fluid replacement since we drained the pan (that drain plug kit is REALLY looking nice now) and a TV cable adjustment and it was fine.

4th gear was back, and the TC now locks up again. Ofcourse, knowing my luck Joe invented a new phrase for the vexxed F-body owner.

    "Knock on F-body"

Jury is still out, only time will tell but it felt VERY much like it used to feel.

The reason I wanted to get this trans working is because rebuilding a trans is going to be my winter project. The tranny going REALLY forced me to try and move my plans forward. But I've got all the tools needed at my dads. And I found a source to rent those lovely job specific tranny tools from for fairly cheap prices, between $5 and $10 to rent.

I've got a 89' 700r4 that came from behind a L98 as a core. So all the updated valve body stuff is in there. I know it'll be expensive, but I've got a long time to get it right.

Jeremy, I can pick up those L98 heads whenever you get them out of storage. Tim mentioned something about having you bring them to your job, and i pick them up from you there. If not, just dig them out and I'll pop up on a weekend.

BTW, is Miami subs doing anything this Saturday? Still a cruise night to show up to?

cool bill, i'm glad you finally got that monkey off your back...
now lets hope it will last thur the winter eh or till you get your rebuilt done...
my question to you is since you got no heater core hoses to your heater core, aren't you gonna be a lil cold over the winter?
then again, that's what i saw on your car the last time i saw it..

*** damned Governor Cover plate started leaking while I was on the highway. Only I didn't notice till I tried to over take someone and it just spun! I got to work and slid under the car, I saw some fluid on the plate, but not enough to explain the behavior.

Stopped at a gas station and bought some tranny fluid, put in about a half a quart. The tranny dip stick is REALLY hard to read. Nursed it home, jacked it up and looked at the trans. It was leaking like a crazy **** from that plate. I didn't bother to mess with it then, I had to go back to work @ 4:00, used my other car.

I priced a Governer plate cover @ $10.95. I'll visit the GM dealer tomorow. I hope its just acting this way because its low on fluid, however there is probably a VERY good chance that I fried the clutches on my way to work.

Now it won't shift until about 3,500rpms, seems like it just skips 2nd gear completely and drops right into 3rd gear. All gears slip badly.

I haven't bothered to fill it up and see how it responds because I don't want to leak fluid all over the roads right now. I'll get the cover, drain it, check the magnet for material. If I find clutch material I'll put it all back, fill it up and pray. If I don't find any friction material on the magnet then perhaps I got very lucky.

Stupid ****ing tranny. The gods must hate me!

Bill. Just get the cover and fill the trans. Your clutches were like brand new when I looked at them. They shouin't have fried that quickly.. You'll have to drop the cross member to tap the plte back on. But you should be fine.

with a little creativity, a short 2x4, a flat pry bar, and a minisledge, you don't need to drop the crossmember at all, but hey, this is comming from the guy that changed a tranny in two hours with three floor jacks, and old I-beam, and vise grips...what do i know?

Bill I don't think you're car wants to driven anymore. It is a possessed car!! All the work and work and work done on that thing and it still dies on you. Something else is going on that is why I say it's possessed!! I don't think I'll be telling Joe about your car when I see/talk to him tomorrow! I'd hate to hear what words would come out of his mouth due to your car!

Well, he knows it was leaking from the rear governor cover. I just wish it would have leaked over night while the car was parked. As there wasn't any stain there when I took it to work on Tuesday, then I lost all the fluid and fried it then I bet. I found out it was slipping when I gave it enough gas to down shift and it just freewheeled in 2nd gear coming off the 290/355 Lake st. east bound exit.
