emissions
does IL have an emissions testing exemption rule if you drive under so many miles a year?. since I am only home for 3 months during the summer and usually work during the day, the car gets limited mileage put on it. I think I put like 900 or so on it last year. can I get out out emissions if I drive under 2000 or 1000 or what? some help would be nice.

Here is the link to the Il. emission standards Link I don’t think there is an exemption for that but since it only covers 10 counties, it might be easier to get you car registered in one that doesn't have testing then you have no problems.

If you don't live in the affected counties or zip codes, there is no testing and they can't mess with you in they areas that have testing

It's my understanding that custom is a home built such as a kit car (no vin) and street rod is pre 49

In no case shall the Agency send a notice of an on‑road exceedance to the owner of a vehicle that was found to exceed the on‑road emission standards established for the model year and type of vehicle if the vehicle is registered outside of the affected counties.

IL is officially gay in my opinion, cause these rules are bs, the fact that I don't drive it even a 1000 miles year I should be exempt

Kind of a drag, but thats the way the wind blows. I would look at getting it to pass, myself.

You can get an exemption if you have show car/race car insurance on your car. I think it is easier if you list your car as a show car. You can get specialty insurance through a company like Grundy. After that, you can fill out an exemption form with the state and you'll get your exemption.

With the new motor i was thinking of making it more liek a pro-street car as long as i could ditch all of the emmsions stuff and replace the 3 inch cat with an electic 3 inch cutout.
