so nice to be able to stop

i finally got the brakes working good on the 91.Its nice to be able to stop with out ending up in the other lane.And of course the last thing i did to the brakes fixed the prob.Is it just me or does that happen to you all to?

Seems to be a common problem with thirdgens. I've never had it on my Escort.

To tell the truth I've gotten used to the brake issue. When I replace them I'm going with Earls stainless brake lines from the hard line to the caliper.

Yeah I put new caliper,rotors,pads,flushed the brake fuild(looked like mud)The last thing was new brake lines.I just got some from car quest $12 each.I'm going to but the good oneon my z but the 91 is a work car so did not wanna spend a lot on it..

I never really had a brake problem with my thirdgen. I see the breaks as the most important thing on a car because if you can't stop then you die, so the first repair I make on any car I buy used is the breaks. When working right the thirdgen breaking system is excellent.

i think adequate was the word you were looking for, not excellent.

it does safely stop the car, but it isnt a performance braking system even by early 90s standards.

yea even with 4 wheel disk, these brakes SUCK. my SS stops a million times better and it has rear drum

If you have an 89 with the PBR rear calipers then most of the fault lies in the front brakes too. Grrr.....

My rear brakes are bigger than the fronts........ Go figure
