yeah lol

People talked about designs and never made or shown any.

that was the end of that.

I think something like the Chicago Chapter Buick Club sticker would be great.

Has the city skyline and name on it.

Small and tasteful, no muss no fuss

I don't even know where to have something made. I've been working on a design for the large vacant spot on the passenger side dash area. I want it to look something like this, except I don't want it to look "ghetto". With maybe the word Camaro to the right of it. What do you think?

I know this design doesn't have anything to do with the organization, but I'd like to have a thirdgen sticker for the hatch widow. Something discreet, but noticeable. Who has some ideas?

Here's my crappy idea:

-----
| ------| |-----|
| | -----| |
THIRDGEN.ORG
NW IN/South Chicago Board

U get the idea, name with city skyline and a cloud or too.

Nice discreet and clean. Use white, black, red , blue and its not disgusting on out cars and would blend in nicely

Maybe have them made and charge like $3-5 for them and use the money towards something like the track day.

I don't know what all those dotted lines are, but the skyline idea sounds nice. If someone could find a place that can make 'em, I would be a definite buyer. Especially if the proceeds go toward track day next year. That's an excellent idea for reducing rental costs!

Geez Jer, I didn't think that you were into that gimmicky sticker crap, lol.

For those who don't know, back when this board was put into motion this was one of the first topics brought up by myself & Nick (solomotorsport). Both of our ideas were shrugged off; I guess it happened cause there were so little of us meeting and no one was sure if it was worth committing. Once again, the topic comes back like the plague and will eventually sink or swim.

Personally I've fallen short in the past for going to board organized events, but I'd like to be the designer for this task. Make some sort of contribution being the 4th Gen guy, lol. I have a portfolio site that I can post the link, so everyone can see my roughs. I'll work with what has been offered so-far & I'll try to take it one step extra.

I'll post some stuff sunday afternoon.

the lines were supposed to be buildings, it didnt translate well I now realize.

Anyhow it is a simple design has the thirdgen name and our board on it laong with a skyline and a cloud.

Just looks nice and clean and something presentable like we are actually a serious group.

No worries folks I'll take care of it. I mean I went to school for it and know what looks good. Plus it'll be nice to have in my portfolio, cause I could use some diversity other than all my school projects.

I'd appreciate it if I could do it.

Here's an idea that I was playing around with. This may be a better example than Jer's S.O.S. version, lol.

If this is too complex, I can try something more simple. I was thinking that under the sticker there could be a line for the username too.

I like Dom's because its nice and simple. I'm not sure where, if at all, I'd put it on my car though. I'm really not a big fan of stickers on cars, and it may look out of place on a black car with tinted windows. The other one is nice but I think its a bit detailed for a window sticker type of thing.

Actually, Dom's would be about perfect if the white was all transparent. Maybe like a transparent vinyl cling-on type thing, that'd be perfect, and I would totally put taht on my rear window.

Props Dom!

That was exactly the sytle I was talking about.

Now the criticism lol (not really)

Was just wondering if u wouldnt mind making a few different versions.

Like one with the lettering a little toned down so it flows together better for the eye. Maybe changing fonts and colors and size

Maybe one with the buildings a little less prominenet more like a 1d view of the skline from afar.

And one combining what I said in the above but a reverse image, like for people who have tinted windows. Like a black and white and a reverse white and black.

Definitely on the right track to what I had in mind though!

Did u ever find the chicago chapter buick logo I was talking about?

I never did find that logo Jer, just kinda winged it, lol.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I definitely can tweek aspects of it. I was thinking that some colors may change for a tinted window. I can create a separate file for those with a tinted window so it can be reversed.

I just wanted to get an idea out before someone beat me to it, lol. I can add more ideas to the site and I'll definitely use the guidelines of the first one. I'll see how it looks toned down for costs.

BTW Sox, that's a nice picture of the skyline!

Maybe make mine a banner that travels for group meetings, like Denny's party or track days or what have ya. It'd probably be a better banner than sticker! Thanks for the compliments too.

*UPDATE*

Just so this thread doesn't slip down the board, I should have something new to show this weekend. I have a few revisions that are not quite complete. Only difficult task is narrowing down ideas to 5 possibilities, my free portfolio site only allows me to post 5 samples before I need to update to a premium package that I need to pay for.

I can post new things from tomorrow through sunday, keep checking back.

I talked to Dom at VSI today briefly.

He will have some more stuff up shortly and I will find that damned sticker arrrgggghhh

Hoping to make this one happen.

What would everyone say is fair, would $5 a piece work? This is tentaive if we get them made.

Figure donate least $1 a sticker to thirdgen.org proper, they would prolly cost like a $1-2 a pop(guessing) and then use the extra $3 to go towards track rental for next year.

That way everyone benefits

Here's the scoop

I should have a couple more ideas posted very shortly on the above link. I'm trying slightly different angles, working with what everyone likes and to humor Jeremy's comments.

BTW, how bout some $$ for commission,

How about just a black and white out line of the city skyline so that we can just make them like a regular vynil decal. Like the one I got from B@G just a simple design, rather have something like that than a bumper sticker as the posted idea already is.

Fear My Paint Skills Kindof the idea I was going for, the blue just represents the window only the black would be the sticker.

I got someone that can probably do them for minimal cost out near me :-)

Its not going to be a bumper sticker type or that large. Just something of a nice and clean design that can be seen and read thru the glass, like on the hatch

Yeah, I'm hoping that you're not taking my design as a tacky bumper sticker.

I've had similar stickers done in the past, and the designs I've done can be done in vynil, just layered in different colors. The second and third designs are more geared for a lasting less-complex sticker that won't break due to the thinness of lines. Maybe I should post an idea against a simulated tinted window. Sticker colors will change due to application, Like Jer said before I can also reflect the image so you can place it inside the hatch.

No matter what happens to the sticker, you get what you pay for. If it comes out between $5-8 as a fancy design; beats a $3 piece of crap design.

Dom, Nice work. One suggestion. Where you have the curved line under the skyline, if you change that shape to the outline of a thirdgen I think the design would be perfect.

Note the artwork attached to kinda get the idea. I think that would tie in the thirdgen car to the Chicago/Indiana skyline.

I too do some Graphic Design work from time to time. One other suggestion is I would add a little more spacing in between letters just for clarity. But that is very minor.

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to order but please no crappy bumper stickers. I want something for the hatch.

Are they serious? You can buy thirdgen PANTIES? If I ever get naked and a woman comes out with thirdgen panties on I am gonna just explode.

That thirdgen logo and design is just such pure crap. Yes, I mean the one for the site. I have refused to buy any of it, especialy since all those great Abubuca shirt designs are around here.

I fought that tooth and nail when they were picking it.

yakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

Edit: Oh my #!$!#$, they actually made the hood t-shirts lol hahahahaahha

Ok, score one for gayness. First we had awesome shirts and they wussed out and dont have the cahoonies to make them. Thenw e get saddled with ugly thirdgen logo, now its come down to our hoods on a shirt ? Puh lease.............................

*sigh*

Besides, this post isnt about it, keep it on topic, its about making some nice clean hatch stickers for our cars.

Yeah, those shirts are terrible, and that logo needs to die a terrible, slow death.

I agree, that logo isn't very representative of a third generation f-body at all. I was hesitant to add a thirdgen silohette to the design with the fear of the design becoming overly busy looking.

The type can be tweeked once every puts a vote on which one is more popular. Adjusting the tracking between the "thirdgen" font is going to be pending. Let's get proactive here everyone, I'll post a simulated tint version within the week.

I think that Andre just posted that as an example to illustrate a point. That's the logo (colors included) the TGO is using now for promo stuff.

Hey Jer, you think we make this thing a sticky. It would be a good idea to solve this before inclimate weather comes.

*I have to find that damned sticker*

Ok, three dont work nice as the other two do.

Font on first one is best.

What is the official ThirdGen.Org logo, not the crappy ugly ones they have, but the one that is most recognizeable? Every page here has something different.

Should we change it to Northwest Indiana and Chicago Board?

What should we do for IN, we have th city skyline idea worked out, maybe a silhouette over like the where IN and IL meet with Lake Michigain?

U know one is the Hancock, can we make the other one noticeable as the Sears Tower?

Just blurting out crap out loud.

later

the building on the left is taller so that works as the sears, hancock was identified correctly.

I like the first font the best also, I can lose the stroke around the letters for its better for vynil. Also keep in mind that there could be a "by-line" underneath the main heading for the username.

It's hard to represent Indy cause there's a small group of us. We are still living in a semi-local surburb of Chicago; it being the most accessable metro city. I'll experiment and post a semi-final rough.

Are we going sticky yet?
