So what do you all think??

Picked up my cowl hood from a guy off here who got rid of his IROC and had his hood left over. Granted it is a 6" cowl hood and bigger than I needed but I do need a cowl hood cause my stock hood didnt clear the carb already and I dont have the air cleaner or spacer on. Oh and it is lift off.....pure racer car LOL!!

BTW Jay 92....(dont remember all his numbers) could PM me, I want to get it painted the same color as the car, and if you could shoot me a price Jay I would appreciate it!!

TAADDAHH!

i was told it is the best way to get heat out from under the hood, a problem with TPI cars, i should know my IROC had some extreme temps which led to starter problems and electrical tape getting all gooey and sliding off

I'm using a 2 1/2" cowl with an even shorter setup than TPI (LT1 intake) I needed it for the room for guages though. I dislike A-pillar guages, and I needed more guages than that anyways. So...guages, heat extraction, and dropped another 40+lbs off the front of my car

so it's "useful" i don't have a issue with that at all. i have the gta hood with heat extractors so heat really is not a issue for me. i was surprised at the amount of heat that comes out of those vents.

i did the remove a little bit of the rubber sealing trim along the top of the hood and it lowed my engine temp by about 10 degrees on a hot day....cheapest mod i ever did

You'd be surprised, those "heat extractors" in the Trans Am hood don't really do much. I never had a problem with cooling to be honest, but I did notice cooler intake air temps when I removed the foam strip. Haven't done any logging at all since I got the cowl hood on, but I'm assuming it'll be even better now.

I have the back plate out of my formula hood and on hot days in traffic you can see the heat comming out of the vent its disgusting how hot it can get under a thirdgen hood but its been alot better since I got ceramic headders definatly worth the extra cash

what company did you go with for the headers?? and are they shorties or long tubes? i have headers that are wrapped and was thinking about either buying a new set or getting mine ceramic coated.

BTW any one know a place around here that ceramic coats??

header wrap will cause your headers to rust out really quick. I know that Lo-Ko coatings in worth does ceramic coatings, as does jet hot or similar places.
