please help me

OK so i put a 355 into my camaro a while back and for some reason it just doesn't seem to crank out much power...i have a 9:1 compression and i believe its a roller (spelling), it also has a basic 14x3 element with a k&n high flow, its got an aftermarked edle. intake manifold, and its a tbi, i know its history and its got aftermarket heads. it used to be my uncles friends and he was suprised that i couldnt even light the tires up. he knows it has WAY more than that in it he told me it was turnin his car easy...im not a car expert by any means it just seems weak i still am runnin a 305 everything else like the chip and everything and stock exhaust. but i have a pair or headmen longtubes and a true dual with h-pipe and moroso's coming in soon when weather breaks. something just doesnt seem right when my buddies impala with a v6 is beating my car i take care of it and everything. any thoughts?

i really just come down to being stumped because my lack of knowledge im expecting the exhaust and headers to help seeing as im using the stock 305 system but do i need different injectors will a tune do it i mean whats my best bet here im tired of getting beat by crappy mustangs, or am i just expecting to much

Sorry for any spelling errors

Re: please help me

and its a tbi
found the problem.

What kind of heads does it have, cam specs, the exhaust should help a little do you have gears yet?

I had a 88 formula with about 10:1 compression 355ci vortec heads, 3.42 lsd, slp headers, 3inch exhaust 40 series flowmaster, ported tbi unit with all the other free tbi mods and custom burned chip with a world class 5 speed and could only muster a best of 15.1 in the quarter mile. I could have broke into the 14's with slicks or better tires since the ones I had were bald and dryrotted.

Not sure what fuel setup will go into my 92 but the tbi will be my new boat anchor.BTW my LO3 ran a a best of 15.4 with few mods the major of which is a 3.73 lsd rear end.

Re: please help me

bring me the car i'll fix it right up

also we'll ditch the tbi, put on a 650 double pumper holley and you'll be terrorizing the streets as quick as can be. I'm sure you still got my cell #, so give me a call and we can run down how to spend YOUR money

Also why isn't that SWEET true duals on your car yet? It definitely made me faster.

Re: please help me

Hey John. I would have to say that those injectors would be holding you back and running the stock ECM aint helping either. I would PM Jim (BronYrAur) he is pretty good with TBI Prom tunning.

Re: please help me

Tune is definitely going to be a great deal of the problem with EFI if you have gone to a more aggressive cam.

Dont forget the stall and gearing for launch. Will seem like a dog if you dont have it stalled to match where the cam starts making power as well as if you still have a highway gear..

I was thinking the same thing. I could understand running that with those mods and not upgrading the injectors and tunning it properly. Did you remember to take the E brake off??

Re: please help me

it's airflow and fuel limited without a doubt. i'd imagine 3500 rpms it's out of fuel in stock form. Don't worry I'll give it the "tune up"

Re: please help me

My old 355 with a mild cam, 650dp, stock heads ported by enr racing,9.5:1 comp, msd and a 1800 stall was running 14.7 getting loose in second..you carb it and get a lockup kit for the 700r4 and you wont be disappointed. Hey if you want I got a set of vortec heads for sale . either way youve gotta be starving that motor..that 355 should melt a set of street tires... good luck

Re: please help me

quite wasting your time , get bigger injectors out of a truck TBI set up (new from autozone, just tell them it was for a 350 truck) and get a F-in chip burned for it. thats the problem. you changed stuff on a MAP set up tune. the computer has no idea what to do with you fuel and timing. Been there with three differenet set ups. 350 TPI with speed density, 305 to 350 to 383 TPI with MAF, and TBI originally 305, then 350... oh, put a gear in that beoch too. and a shift kit. then find a NOS kit for it...
