opinions needed
well its getting to about that time where i need to rewire my car im trying to figure out if i should just get a painless universal harness since i dont need ac or heat or pw or pl or should i just find a stock one and make it work but im trying to save all the weight i can so any imput would be awesome,

rewire it why? what doesn't work on it? are you planning on running fuel injection or carb? the painless harness is fine IF and only IF you're very good with wiring, otherwise you'll just create a mess.

when my uncle stripped the car down 8 years ago the harness was kind of a mess and over all just a pain in the a$$ im going to see if i can just salvage most the harness because i plan on running a 750 dbl pumper so i dont need fuel injection wiring

Buy a factory service manual for your year (Helms) and a 12V test light and use it to trace out every wire you think you don't need. Triple check it, then cut.
Most of the engine bay wires go out the bulkhead on the pass. side (forward of the kick plate inside, behind the RF fender outside).
Most of the headlights, turn signals, etc. go out the bulkhead connector under the dash on the driver's side.
Good luck, I put about 40 hours into trimming wires out of the harness I used to run in my race car. It took off at least 15lbs, but all that was left were engine wiring and tail lights.
