Can cops clock you while driving ahead of you??

Here's the story:
I'm driving home today and I'm following my friend and its a 40MPH zone. She brakes to annoy me (she does this a lot) and I was doing 45 so I switch to the right lane to pass her. While I'm in the right lane, I decide to go faster to pass her since there is a bridge just ahead and cops can't wait on bridges to clock you, right? So I get it to about 53 or so. Theres a car going about my speed in front of her. I pass her, and get in front of her and then I see the bar of lights in the back window of the car ahead of me. It's an undercover cop. I brake hard, he gets in the right lane and puts on the brakes to get to about 35. I get down to 40 and pass him. He puts the lights on and pulls me over. He gets me for 56 in a 40.

My question is, can a cop clock you while driving ahead of you in the lane next to you? Do cops have some sort of constant 360* radar? And would the fact that he was moving have anything to do with the reading? Any help is appreciated, I don't feel like paying $95 for traffic school AGAIN. And to think I was thinking about getting an IROC... I don't need a faster car, this one gets me into enough trouble. If this gets locked and you can help out, email me at MetalliCamaroRS@aol.com. Thanks and sorry to post this here.

You probably won't get locked. TransAm3.8 is a good guy. That's why you got to come to Blue Top to meet the guys. Now the important question is where did you get this ticket so we don't get one? And yes cops can clock you in any direction. Besides this all judges take the word of cops over citizens in traffic court on speeding issues. Pay the money so you don't miss work. Work a day of overtime and take the loss. Buy a radar detector with the bands that pick up the State police. I think it's X band or something like that. Once you have that you will at least know where the traps are. I'll start a post on Aftermarket products to find the best one.

Not all cops can I found out. I went to the police station and asked and the cop says "Was is a champaigne gold car?" and I say "yes" and he says "yep, that one can. Its the only car with constant 360* radar. He gets a lot of people with it."
And I got it traveling north on Southwest Highway towards 111th street, but the cop is always all around Palos Hills. Kids around here call him "Supercop". I'm paying the $95 for traffic school like I did for my first ticket. That way it won't go on my record and my insurance won't go up.

Just to let you know, it's illegal for anyone to pass on the right side. Big NO NO!!! (I'm a cop) He probably was giving you a break because passing on the right side is considered Wreckless driving which means impound. My 2 cents.

How is that considered wreckless driving? And I think that may only be in Indiana, cause that wasn't taught in driver's ed, or traffic school when I went for my previous speeding ticket. He wasn't giving me a break at all. Cops don't give breaks to yound kinds in nice cars.

All the cops in my area have this capability. They can get ya if you are behind them, comming at them the other way, in front of them moving away...Just do yourself a favor and get a good radar detector. You will get an alert for the cops who use this system always, because they leave it on pretty much all the time. I know most cops arent too thrilled if they pull you over and see a radar detector, but if you are on your toes, they wont be pulling you over for speeding...And if you think about it you would have saved some pretty big cash by now.
